What do u reckon? Should stick with BMW ori or go for the canggih after-market filter? What is the difference?

I use this :

"mulut besar ,buntot kena besar " so anything masuk can go out easily

Once you modified intake, consider the exhaust system.

nanti dalam perut sakit sebab susah nak keluar ....

cheers

But jerebu (haze) punya pasal .. mulut besar ada problem aje ..
Selalu tersedak (choke) ..

Bila tersedak, buntut keluar asap putih ... ceh .. :hmmph:

Haha, 535i betul jugak.. later keluar asap putih, tak nampak pulak awek kat belakang thru ur side mirror!

strangeboy: Depends on what you're looking for.. if you're looking for more power delivery, just by changing to those aftermarket filters may not give any significant increase in horsepower. It will however give the car a slight 'growl' when revving hard which in turns reminds you that its guzzling more fuel. hehe.

As for my car, ive taken out my open pod K&N filter and switched it back to the original stock filters. I notice that my car is 'growling' too much and too long when im trying to overtake a car..

Open pod requires heat shield .. period ..

Otherwise ... bunyi macam ribut, lari macam siput ..

Other option is to change ur filter with say K & N standard filament that fits direct.

unless it's like 535i's type :ph34r: :ph34r: wooossshh.. ;)

Or get those carbon type racecraft filters :nyehehe:

...cheh... racun kuat, sendiri tak nak buat...

If u choose the open pod (mushroom/cone shape), then the heat filter is highly recommended, a must. Names like K&N and Pipercross are common and commonly expensive too. :D GruppeM induction kit is a prime example of a good use of carbon fibre...looks extra cool too.

Even better if then u also get the big bore throttle body (bbtb) to go with it...the car breathes easier with the right kit induction kit installed. Power gain from this, i read not much but with bbtb, and exhaust system mods and remapping/superchip u can get noticable power gains.

My advice (to myself mainly) is to start off 1 by 1...hehehe... :D
Kena buat reality show lee to finance my plans...hmm...

535's right strangeboy....... especially in hot climate like ours heat shield's are a must for open filters. Suggestions?

Custom made heat shield - have a look at Calvin's set up - its for E30 but same principles will be applicable across the board;

Buy off the shelf solution - if E36 and later model there are many2 designs but if E30 limited options e.g. BMC CDA, Pipercross Viper, Racecraft (affordable BMC CDA copy) - these are the ones I have heard of;

Stick with factory set-up and drop an after market filter in e.g. K&N, Green etc.;

Gains? Apprently some gain with the branded stuff. Perhaps some gain if go DIY/custom route depending on how well you isolate the filter from engine heat. Stock set-up with K&N etc? Maybe no gain but at least save money in the long term coz K&N etc. are cleanable type. I am using this one by the way in an E30 and pretty much confirmed no diff in terms of power but what the hey.....

pas tu kan .. dia cakap ..

'Bukan Untuk Kegunaan Di Lebuhraya' ...

Kenapa ye ? :nyehehe:

Habis basah keyboard ni... :blink:

Memang berkenan... Poket tak kenan lagi...

Serious note... Where do u get air from? The hose runs down to the ground or terselit kat mana-mana? Do you think the Racecraft ones (which are cheaper) are comparable in functionality?

Air comes from the standard air-duct - behind the headlights ...
Basically, it just replaces the standard air-box ...

Piping - kena creative sikit laaa ..
Thanks to pussy ..... * muah * :blush:

I dun know abt Racecraft product ... sorry ....
