Questions: #1. Does the subframe issue on the E46 M3 only affects earlier [year] manufactured units or throughout the whole production years until 2006? #2. Where can I get the subframe repair kit locally? #3. Do you know of any local garage that have knowledge on this repairs? Thanks all... :)

hi ya bro..

i was looking into this issue seriously and have been reading a lot about this subframe issue..

it so happen that when i wash my car at Imola jalan ampang, there's one blue black M3 that did the subframe reinforcement...

i did ask them how much does it cost, and they will get back to me for the quotation..

i will get the details for you...as i'm looking to reinforce my subframe as well..

owh, and it seems that the subframe issue is throughout the production...(from m3forum)

on another note, i did order TMS front subframe reinforcement kit thru my friends...let see if he can manage to get it back here in KL..

finger crossed...

Blackcat,

It affects ALL E46s. But the M3s get it the worse (01-06) because of more power.
Just try searching for "subframe" here : http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/search.php
And you'll see how bad it is. For those in the US, they can appeal and have BMW themselves fix it for them.
Unfortunately for us, we have to get it fixed ourselves at our own expense.

The TMS rear subframe kit is tiny. You should see Ruben or his father at Tedco, Segambut.
They have very good experience with this. I did mine there and I was very impressed at the quality of the work done.
The plates and welds are very chunky, it fills the 4 point of the body so any force will be spread evenly.
They prepare race cars for a living so I'm very confident leaving my car there at the time for them to work on it.

888, thanks for your responses :)

Would you please PM me the contact # for Tedco, Segambut, how much did it cost you for the 4 points [for budgetary purpose] and lastly how long does it take to do the job.

Tia :)

Check your inbox. I've sent you his contact number.
Price you got to ask him yourself as I can't remember also.
I also scared I quote wrong price (too low or too high) so better ask him.
If I remember correctly, it's not expensive la. Around RM2-3k++.
Also depends on whether you want to change the subframe bushes or not.

Cheers.

Noted with thanks bro. Appreciate the PM :)

BC, rueben has moved to his own place in Shah Alam. Depending on who you prefer you can go to either one. They're both equally qualified so up to you.

Rueben's number is 012 311 9930.

That one you have to double check with them bro, or perhaps 888 can help you answer that since he's done that for his car.

Bad news bro, he's not coming back in this near future...he's at Intel US...so order with TMS pending.

Because of that, going to proceed with ordering Rogue Engineering RTAB and FCAB, RSM and Rear Spring Perch Reinforcement and courier here directly...since i'm gonna change my suspension to KWV2 soon...might worth doin it altogether..heck might even worth doing the rear subframe reinforcement while at it..

I was thinking...

-RE RTAB
-RE FCAB
-RE RSM
-RE RSPR
-KWV2
-H&R Sway Bar
-New shoes
-new steering guibo joint (32-30-1-094-703)

At the moment, my car handling is like shite bro... pulls to the left during acceleration..very sloppy during cornering...wet even worst...

Its an 2003 car, so i guess its pretty much about time to change those worn bushes...

When are you going bro?.. Can go together...need to find a reputable workshop that can do this...any advice on which shop to go?

I may go this weekend to look see and prob get some quotes for cost n budgeting...

Prob either order the kit online or buy here if available.

Thing is, I'd like to have it done for both front n rear... and prob order some of the bushes etc as well cos it'll be a good time to do it since a fair bit of stuff will be brought down.

A mini major job I'd say... So prob I'd need to rob a bank first before doing this!!!
