Staggered vs normal

Yee, it all depends on what car you are driving and what you are striving for? Performance, looks or both?

To add on to what most have said, even with bigger rear tires the car can be setup to have a neutral handling with camber plates and anti roll bars and you have a higher traction limit.

I would go for wider tires, more grip is always good. For my own car, I went from 255/40/19 to 265/30/19 (rear), and there is so much more grip that makes driving an absolute JOY! :)

As for driving in the wet, no matter how narrow your tires are it is always advisable to drive slow. Have you all noticed how many local and jap cars with narrow tires involved in accidents when it's raining?!!

Cheers

Hi guys,
For staggered setting, usually are 225/40/18 and 255/35/18. Can I use 235/40/18 for rear instead? base on tyres calculation, it's 1.5% more then the standard setting.

I've been doing tyres business for some times, so far non setup is fixed. I will still always refer to my tyres catalog if neccessary. I can see some drivers having different heights compared to front and rear which effect the aerodynamic of the car when going above 100km/h. Each tyre size have different required wheel width, there is a calculation for each tyre install in a wheel. Based on the catalog, i had decided my setting which is 235 x 35 x 19 (8.5F) same height as 275 x 30 x 19 (9.5R). Imagine if ur front wheel is higher than rear, ur aerodynamic is run off and result in slower top speed, higher fc, stability and understeer problem. Front too low also will have oversteer due to when brake, ur weight will fully transfer to front instead of 60/40. lol my english is bad, im so sorry, hope u guys can understand what im trying to say.

We living in Malaysia whereby our road condition is not good as Japan or German. At those country with gd condition road may not required better setting (staggered) to gain more grip or stability when driving. But here in M, i will suggest its better to improve our car stability, grip, etc. This bad road condition also resulted every car owners suffered by repairing bushing, absorbers, tyre life span and so on.

Thanks you for all the comments, although i did not open this tread, but it solved my question as well. cuz im sending my e46 325i to respray new color, and start new mod ....
I'm looking for suitable rims and absorber (first mod)
after read all these tread i planned to get a straggered set ..
So what would be the most suitable size for front and rear which the tyre just right under the fender ???

I'm new in the staggered system, sifu sifu out there pls advise.
I saw some 18" non-staggered wheel with 8.5JJ width using the 225/40/18, does that mean i can use all four 225/40/18 for my staggered wheel with 8jj front and 8.5jj rear? with this setting the height for all 4 wheels will be the same. And if I use 235/40/18 for the rear, it will be 1.5% more then front, which still within the 3% rules.

Appreciate your kind advice..

It will not be the same if u installed a all around 225/40/18 to 8.0F and 8.5R, just like the Msport rim 18" im selling, offset 43, front 8jj 235/40/18 rear 8.5jj 255/35/18.
