Hi guys, Just wanna share something here. Previously the airbag light on my car is ON all the time. Did check with 1 workshop and they told me the seat belt tensioner needs to be changed. Would probably cost around RM600- RM700 per unit.Today, I went to one workshop and they managed to fix the problem for me (thanks to Lee36328 for the contact). It was some wiring problems beneath the front seats. They dismantled my seats and fixed the problem. Now the airbag light is off after the engine is started. I hope this problem is cleared and would not come back and haunt me :)Besides fixing the airbag problem, they also cleaned my AFM and ICV and did some tuning to my ride. Now the car feels more responsive and I don't have to activate the "kick down switch" for normal over-taking (what I tried was released the gas pedal and step on it again and the gear change engaged, then I was told to kick down another time and then the kick down switch was activated). So if any of you out there having this airbag light ON problem too, do get a 2nd opinion from other workshops before changing the SBT.Cheers

bro, pls post the contact details for the benefit of everyone, thks :top:

committee/ moderator's advice pls

I do not know if it is OK to just simply post the name of the workshop and the proprietor here. Not to say that I am not sharing goodies, but perhaps someone can confirm this matter pls? Or would it be more appropriate if interest parties were to PM me for the contact? Please advise.

Cheers~

Ok guys, since I've been given the greenlight to go ahead with the posting for the benefits of everyone, you guys may wanna check with Raymond 012-3267186 from Raymond Auto Works. The workshop is situated behind the Curve, it is in Sunway Damansara (Technology Park). Goodluck guys, hope this helps.

Cheers~

How much it cost u for fixing your air bag including clean your AFM and ICV.

By any chance this is the same Raymond who used to be with M1 Kayu Ara?

Nikrazali: U got a PM.

DD: U know him eh? I think he knows u too :) Give him a call if he's an old friend.

Blackrobe: The total bill was at RM3x0, would still be cheaper than changing a SBT.

Today I tried my car on NKVE, yeah the response of the car has relatively improved. The 1st kick down was achieved around 3000 to 3500 rpm which I did not activate the kick down switch. Will try to observe this again the next time I rev on highway.

Cheers

Hi there..
im facing the same problem.. dunno where to go in Kulim.. any suggestion?

Hi airees. I dunno any workshop in Kulim coz I am in KL/PJ. But do get your mechanic to check for the cause for the airbag light to be "ON". Not necessarily is the Seat Belt Tensioner (SBT). It could be due to some wiring problem/ disconnected under the seats. Please get a second opinion from another workshop if you are not confident on the 1st workshop.

Hope this helps.

hi all, i encountered the same problem on my ride some time ago. i sent to Performance Motor for repair since still under warranty. they told me is controller faulty.

hi airees, i know a shop in penang, Chu Seng Auto at Jalan P Ramlee. you may try out since Kulim is near to penang.

cheers!

oh no, my airbag light comes on again this evening when I got stuck in a traffic jam. Was on a go-stop go-stop jam then suddenly the airbag light came on. What could be the problem? I had a bottle of small mineral water rolled underneath the seats. Could it be the bottle knocked on the wire or something?

I hope this can simply be reset, rather than having to dismantle the seats again to repair it? or worse still the seat belt tensioner? gee... will update u guys soon

Hello Russie and other fellow members,

Thank you for sharing this information. My mom's E38 728i is currently facing the same problem. We've been to 2 workshops and they both said something that's got to do with the passenger's seatbelt. I suspect that it might be the same problem as yours after reading this thread.

I have a question though. How long did it take them to sort out your problem?

Thanks and regards,

Bix

Hi Bix, I would suggest that you get a second and third opinion before changing the seat belt tensioner (SBT). Some people who have changed the SBT will still encounter the same problem. Why not send in to check on the wiring before changing anything? As for my problem, I got it solved in a day itself but this time around, dunno what went wrong the light came on again. Will send in for checking again.

cheers

If this can be DIY, much better... I am sure there's a DIY sifu among our members. Then outstation member can benefit from the experience, then putih putih got slaughtered.

Yes, I plan to send it to the garage that you've mentioned in this thread cos I've been to 2 workshops and I reckon that they're trying to cheat me by the way they talk. They want me to leave the car for a week and the cost is just ridiculous. Their explanation for doing so simply does not make any sense.

Thank you once more for sharing the info. Do update if anything is connected to the problem after you send for checking.

Cheerio...

Bix, if you plan to send to the same garage, maybe we can go there together. In fact mine was fixed earlier on in May or June. Only lately the airbag light came on again which I suspected was caused by a bottle which rolled down under the seat (could have triggered the wiring then).

Anyway will update you soon too.

Cheers~
