Finally tested the ride today with the lowered profile. The shocks replaced were all bilstein (air type). Surprisingly the comfort level is still very good, maybe as good as before or even better. Luckily my E39 did not turn out to be a Milo shaker as another guy had joked about.
The whole car has been lowered so significantly that I could feel the difference getting into the car. The front lowering has been more pronounce than the rear. I compared the SACHS with the original front spring and found that there a difference of about 3" in height when standing uncompressed.
I'm very satisfied with the amount lowered in front and wished that the rear could be even lower. I went to an accessories shop and ask them if they notice the lowering, one guy came and tried to stick his two fingers into the gap and told me that 1.5 finger between the tyre and the body is considered very low.
I hope that these shocks will last a long long time and I'm looking to replace my 18" HM2 to a 19" once my financial health returns to normal.
The job was done at Citroen Motor in Butterworth and was charged RM180 for the job. United Motor in Butterworth quoted RM320 and Chu Seng in Penang quoted RM220.
