One of the malay band that I actually liked. RIP. PENANG: Loganathan Arumugam of the Alleycats passed away at 10.50am Monday at the Mount Miriam Hospital here. He was 54. Loga, as he was fondly called, was admitted to the hospital on Saturday. He was diagnosed with lung cancer eight months ago. “He had been having a very bad cough for a year,” said his elder brother David, 57, also of Alleycats fame. Loga was married, with a 23-year-old son and a 20-year-old daughter. He provided vocals and played the flute for the band. The Alleycats, formed here in 1969, had recorded 29 albums. The group started by playing in clubs around the country before signing a recording deal with PolyGram Records in 1978.

pussy, didnt know ur still up.

Here's one in memory of Loga.

Andainya aku pergi dulu sebelummu
Janganlah kau bersedih hati
Andainya aku tiada lagi di sisimu
Janganlah kau memencil diri
Bayangkanlah masa-masa bahagia
Semasa engkau dan aku
Bermesra di langit biru
Di waktu kasih berpadu

Andainya engkau pergi dulu sebelumku
Mestikah aku hidup melara
Andainya engkau tiada lagi di sisiku
Mestikah aku kecewa

Ku percaya kau selalu di sisiku
Walaupun jasadmu tiada
Walau di mana kau berada
Kasihku takkan berubah

Di pohon cemara ku ukirkan kata cinta
Bulan tersenyum dan bersinar
Berguguran daun jatuh lembut ke rambutmu
Meraikan suasana indah
Di sini ku berjanji disaksi rembulan
Andainya ku pergi dulu
Jikalau ku pergi dulu
Ku nantimu di pintu syurga

But at least his bro David has vowed to to keep the band going, as what Loga would have wished. As I am typing this post, I have one of their songs running through my head....:(

Great guy and group. Met them when they were performing onboard a cruise ship.

Met Loga in person in 2000. Alleycats used to perform at HRC and they used to stay in the aprtment i live in. really friendly person. had a brief chat with him in the lift. very humble person.

Yeah, s'thing like that but been very busy lately.
Sigh, The great Loga with his huge Afro hairstyle and the Alleycats! First laid eyes and ears on them at Tomorrow Disco, former KL Merlin hotel (now Concorde) in the 70's. Those were days when we had bands that produced very good music. Back then when the top bands besides Alleycats were, The Strollers, Discovery, Falcons, Yellow Jackets, Grim Peachers and Windjammers. Sigh.

Loga had one of the best rock vocal tone in town. Sigh. okow, all those names you mentioned were big names then, thats true. I remember always ending up in PJ State for late hokkien mee supper after a night at these discos. Funny thing was disco music then was actually more like rock music. Sigh again.
