anyone have done this or not i heard that i will give me more power and better fuel consumtion on my 318 e36, has anyone done it ? care to share cos im thinking to do it..

What you mean is kill the cat...

More power - a bit more at the top end.

Better fuel consumption - dream on, consumption gets worse as the system will be more free flow hence you will tend to rev the engine more.

Environment pollution - yes

Noise pollution - possibly yes, it will be a bit louder.

Mine fully removed(for this week only), no cat nothing..straight thru to the end with big muffler. Sound wise, very nice and bassy but irritating.

huh you did not put a bullet inthe middle ah, hows the sound like ah beng type or 6potter. what rear end box you using ? ori or change ?

Yup, nothing at all, straight thru twin pipes..rear ragazzon twin dtm, had to do some malaysia boleh style mod on the rear coz our car got 2 pipes. I just put it in for the fun of trying it out see how it will sound. So how? sounds like an R34, very deep bass and booming and not to mention loud. Idling that time. its really booommmyyy and baaaasssssyyyy. Damn loud, I think you can hear the car idling at about 50metres away

My cat gave problems. Heard loud rattle then after one week.... car won't move. Gwad, performance dropped dramatically but someone told me beamers don;t need cat but how about performance. Really kaput. Mine real case study.

Wooi..every car needs a cat if possible.. save the environment a bit la.

the ekzos man told me to take off coz i feel the car makan minyak and no power also than before abit then he ask me to put a bullet like ekzoz so that makes it like normal then more power and also fuel consumtion better also ... boleh percaya ke ekzoz man

dia punya kepala la..makan minyak no power means must put resonator and de-cat ka? his degree must be from Ah Kau R&D Exhaust Uni in Sungai Buloh.

How you know your car fuel consumption is high? Does is run much higher than normal? If so, check the engine, something could be wrong, it may be running too rich. Have it checked out. NOT BY CHANGING EXHAUST SYSTEM LA.

In newer BMW's, there is a sensor before the cat, and after the cat..

If you remove your cat, these 2 sensors are going to give the same reading and your DME will as have the car running rich...

Dont ask me why. Someone else has to elabourate. :)

Thats what my mech said.

Im running a full straight system with no cat and 1 hi-flow resonator on an E46.

Sounds great and i prefer it this way. If can be louder, i would rather it louder but i dont want to remove the resonator as well.. might lose power..
not that its alot but i dont have much to begin with.. anything is something. :)

Who have a good condition E46 resonator for sale? i need one for my 325i, pm me ya thanks:)

My opinion is U better keep it as original assembly parts in yr car.Don't make U head ache later on or in future.

Catalytic converter is environmental friendly and others as per our friend said if U cut out yr DME will get wrong CO reading signal bcoz cat.convt is to slow down the flow of CO then it will send and process how many O2 or fuel to mix in.

That's is what I knew from my mechanic.

Ya. It is better to be more environmental conscious. If everyone starts removing it, our last day on Earth will be here soon.

MY EXPERIENCE...my car is 325 and have 4 cats..after remove all my cats , the tork and top end increase...but the problem is if i maintain certain speed which below 120kmh, the check light will appear...but after o2 ( after cats) sensor aku ubah kebelakang about 3 kaki, the problem solve..the piping i change to single piping 2.3 inch with ac snizer muffler, the sound is very similar to r34. before, my piping is 2.5, my car get 250kmh very fast, but very low tork at low rpm. and my advise, the most important to mod is tuning.,no mather ure reflash, using safc or any piggyback device. at my last dyno my car got 203hp on wheel, cheers..

^^^ 203hp on wheels senang2 leh makan 330 bro :top: Tapi post laaa gambo dyno chart bro :p
Dyno kat ne bro?

VInce,

Your baby runs on a closed loop fuel injection system. The catalytic converter is part of the system. Remove it and the car will develop little gremlins. Leave it alone as it is part of a system. Power isn't everything.

An investment in e.g. aftermarket anti-roll bars would make your car quicker round the bends compared to the minor improvement you would get from cat removal.

Hope this helps.
