when i get my car next week...i will straight away go the workshop tochange timing beltchange engine oilchange oil filterchange gear oilchange spark plug check fuel leakingtop up aircond gasreplace brake oilis this enough?i notice about axle oil..is it necessary to do it now?

I would suggest inspection on all belting, mountings, and bushings and change as necessary. Heck change all if you could! That way can eliminate all pain-in-the-ass noises and creaks.

I assume you would do complete flushing of brake fluids as well. That would do good too.

Just to check what engine are you using? Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought all E36 stock engines are using timing chain unless its an M42?

Flush your power steering fluid as well. Also check your steering rack for any leaks.

Did the previous owner provide you with any service histories?

nop..i'm not sure coz took the car from used car. so i not trust the history...kakaka..ok...then i will add another work there...

btw.....how about brake sensor? is it necessary to change? how could i know time to replace it?

bro, firstly, u need to identified a reliable specialized bmw workshop to answer all your question. the mechanic is the best person to advice u on the parts condition wether to change or not..

the main basic important parts are to change the all the radiator hose, coolant, waterpump, brake pads, service all the oil: engine oil, axle oil, gearbox oil, brake oil, power stering oil, spark plugs, fuel filter, aircond microfilter.. and wheel alignment.

this services above will ligthen ur wallet oredi..that's why its very important to have service records frm previous owner regardless frm used car dealers.
its better to use ur extra budget for new mod.. :)

all the best to u bro..

ps: 328 using timing chain and requires u 8 liters engine oil and 6 spark plugs.

how much the timing chain will cost me?

Nando,

What's the mileage of the car you're buying ? Typically, the factory chains will last for about 300K km depending on usage. I changed all the chains + sprockets on my car when I did an engine rebuild at 200K.

VaN.

below 200 k bro...

Okay, the chains can go on for another 2 years at least. You can work on the other important bits once you get the car. Remember, the E36 is not exactly a very new car so you'll need to put in some time, effort and money to get it up to shape. But the results will be well worth it, especially when it's a 328i :top:

VaN.

change the following as well.

1. radiator
2. expansion tank
3. thermostat
4. water pump
5. all water hose.

Very important to remember this, Nando. Cooling system has always been one of the M52's weak points. Please ensure that you have the above checked and replaced as needed upon getting the car too.

Brake sensor no need to change. When the light comes on, it will indicate your brake pads are worn out. You can change the brake pads within 1000 km. If not, the brake sensor will touch the steel brake disc and damage it. If it damaged, then you need to replace it.

jarance : owh...like that..the sensor will indicate the time to change the pad..good woooo
Vanquish : cooling system? emmm...
ICEMAN 13 : wah....5 to 10k? got only around 2k for the first phase bro...
