Hi bros, recently i have bought my car to change the oil seal at a workshop nearby...while changing the seal, the mechanic also took out my radiator to clean. after that...whenever i start my car, the radiator will run on full load all the time. now the engine is very loud. and also, when i accelerate the car seems not able to move as fast as last time...anyone know what is wrong?

he might have accidentally locked up the fan clutch... There's a tab on the front of the fan clutch to lock it in place, which will cause the fan to spin at full rate at any temperature..

Get him to rectify it.

if electric fan, then no fan clutch lah... But then i thought E39 still running fan clutch?

i think jarance meant the aux electric fan since transporter mentioned "radiator" running full load.

fab, yup all 39 runs on fan clutch.

For E36 and E46, there 2 fans. Electric fan in front of the radiator (near grill) and clutch fan behind the radiator.

Extract from BMW WDS info.

Coolant Temperature Sensor at Radiator Outlet
This temperature sensor is fitted in the outlet hose of the radiator and registers the coolant temperature after it flows out of the radiator.

The coolant temperature at the radiator outlet serves the purpose of driving the electric fan.

I think your mechanic have most probably forget to put the connector back properly for the temperature sensor at the hose.

yes ur right. my aux electric fan running at full speed at all times..now my car feel no power when accelerate from standstill...dunno related problem or not...pening..

Even if the electric aux fan runs on full load, you can barely feel any difference when accelerating. It doesn't affect much on the engine accept for electric load.

But if the fan clutch goes on full load, then you can feel a world of difference to the acceleration. It will suck the power out of your engine. But this only happens when it's really really hot!

then i think it is the clutch fan problem instead then? since another forummer mention that my mechanic might forgot to put the clutch fan tab.

ha..ha.. ha.. :77: :77:

If your clutch is faulty, the auxillary electric fan will go to top speed to cool the radiator.

hi bros,

went to the workshop yesterday and mechanic informed that my clutch fan is too tight and replace it with another (loose) one.. now my radiator fan no more on full spin and accelerate like normal. one question, another problem came up, the fan in front of my radiator run on full speed this time ! :S it only happen when i switch on the air-cond...pening...

Did your power improved after you change your clutch fan?
