so far any 320i user feedback?

Guys.. there'll be about 10 to 15 F30s doing a bfast run to Bukit Tinggi via Ulu Yam this Sat 29th. Some of them (both 320 & 328) r on either RC Ultimate or BMS.

Pm Wolfdire if u wish to join the drive and get 1st hand feedback. Breakfast at Colmar Tropicale is RM30/pax.

hi guys,

thank you for your interest. RaceChip only offer Ultimate for BMW N20/B20 engine due to the complexity of BMW engine management system. it needs the fast processor to tune 3 signals at the same time (Boost,MAP & MAF sensors).

Ultimate price in website is EUR549+45 shipping. So it ends up to be about EUR600. However, we are authorized dealer for Malaysia and provide aftersales service and warranty as well.

thank you.

Bro,

Just out of curiosity. The RaceChip is only connected to the pressure sensor of the injection rail. How does it monitor Boost, MAP or MAF?

Thanks

hi willy,

what you referring to is for diesel engine. for turbo-petrol, it is using 3 channels connecting to Boost, MAP & MAF sensors. hope this clarify your question.

tq.

For the amount of money the race chip ultimate offers, it is nearly the same as a full ECU remap, which is way better and probably won't trigger the irritating engine check light, correct?

Rattlesnake.. how is an ECU remap way better than a tuneable & removable piggy back?

What irritating engine check light ?

And how pray tell do you do a full ECU Remap when our ECU are all encrypted ? Its not as easy as a japanese tuner car (evo / subaru wrx)

My understanding from a fellow f30-er, the russians just only managed to crack the encryption.

Furthermore, are you telling me that a full ecu remap will be undetectable by BMW vs the piggyback race chip ?

Do share your knowledge, as my understanding is fairly limited.

Bro omni,
Of course if u remap your ECU, it can be detected with ease by the official bmw sA, piggybacks much harder to detect, lest they thoroughly check n found that your engine has been pumping more fuel than it should at a consistent level, which might trigger their suspicion...but these cases are usually in the grey area...
A person I know who has some experience in car mods told me that piggybacks, although good in the sense that it can be removed anytime avoiding detection, it sort of cheats the engine ECU into pumping more fuel into the intake. Some even controls boost...
Set it to high, will definitely trigger engine power failure warning...
ECU remap on the other hand, if done correctly and safely, works in tandem with the engine...power delivery should be smoother...but whether it can trigger check lights, I am not too sure, but told it wouldn't...
I haven tested ECU remap yet so can't comment further...

hi guys,

piggyback definitely has its limitation due to the way it works. however, triggering a check-light might not means bad. in fact it is a good thing because the piggyback in not over stressing your manufacturer spec. one the other hand, remapping is the different thing because it actually open up the threshold to some extend so that engine check-light seems not 'triggered'. piggy is designed mainly for DIY, if anything happen just undo it. if remap, u got to send in or tow in if something gone wrong.

Wo wo, now we are talking remap and ecus and piggibacks..too techno for me, dun realy understand.
Dear TorqueTuning and guys, can anyone share the drive experience, power etec etc after installing the plug n play device Racechip Ultimate? How much power boost for 320 f30 it can go to? TT, do pm me on the pricing. Thanks

Simon,

Technically on paper the max increase of horses are from 184 to 224PS and torque from 270 to 325Nm.

Layman terms, you will feel the pull more when u sprint during overtaking or going uphill. More power means more fun. Most of the guys who had this installed said its the best bang for buck upgrade.

Cheers!
