Hi guysWhat would be a reasonable price for this make and model? Got an offer for RM245K, grey colour, mileage 35K miles, UK makeCheers

smg is an option from factory.. so, more expensive.. so far, problematic smg units are isolated cases, here in msia and overseas.. just dun expect silky smooth shifts in auto mode.. ive had 2 smgs and they work flawlessly for what they are designed for..

245k is reasonable, though i thot thats the price for 03 model.. but again, depends on specs.. if it's full specced, then it's worth considering.. just make sure the conrod bearing and oil pump recall have been done, else expect to pay around 9-10k for it.. something to nego with the seller..

gud luck with your purchase (or sale).. :top:

Thanks bro. But I heard many SMG are problematic compare to tiptronic for normal E46 thats why market price is lower than normal tiptronic at least for normal non M car?

Don't be a girl. If you can find a manual, get that instead. Haha.
But seriously, which one issit? =/

Bro, wait until u reach 30 & 40 plus then u appreciate more auto especially its yr daily drive thru the jams. I find the tiptronic is very much convenience thru jams, spirited drive & take off at traffic light. Too much delay pressing the clutch & frequent visit to SPA coz tired leg:love:

autos allow your left hand to do other stuff instead of playing with the gearstick. Betul tak, initialM?

maybe most people cannot differentiate SSG aka SMG1 found on the local 325i, with SMG2 on e39 m5 and e46 m3?

p/s: i've never come accross manual non-M e46.. hehe..

i've tested 2 manual M3s.. still cudnt bring myself to get one.. owning smg2 on the m3 is totally a different experience.. furthermore, sequential box for road cars was very exclusive then.. even now, only a handful of cars are shifting with sequential box..

i think i shud get other cars if i really wanted a manual.. the clutch travel, throw and the shift-gate on the stock m3 is crap anyways, compared to type-r hondas'.. hehe.. but since i dun own any manual m3, i guess my comment is only limited to the limited seat time ive had.. but i was told, nothing that overpriced aftermarket s54 parts cannot solve..

Well I have no say in this either to be honest. Never experienced the SMGII before I'm just a big fan of the ol clutch and gearknob. =p
But I must admit, the DSG on the MKV GTi is really fun though.

DSG on golf gti mkv is smoother and faster shifting, but SMGII can withstand higher whp... right adam? ;)

p/s: adam has both, so he can comment...

I've already got experience with the DSG, but I've never tried driving a SMG. *hint hint*
