Powerflex or SuperPro Bushes?

"it's too hard"
Maybe, but its subjective. Some people will like a firmer, 'sharper' feeling car particularly if he's a keen driver.

"crack often"
I dont think this is true. PU unlike rubber (stock) does not deteriorate (like chubby pointed out - climate and road conditions are factors). PU bushes will likely outlast rubber/stock bushes and depending on the car, they will probably outlast that too LOL!

"do not conform to strict udm qc & standards"
Maybe true, but thats like saying Bilstein doesnt conform to UDM qc and standards. Buy a recognised brand and you should be ok. Otherwise I'd be afraid to use febi, bolo, lemforder etc.

"Waste money"
Probably. Stock bushes are pretty good and should last a long time and will do the job as well. As I said, this is one for the keen driver who wants more from his car.

"More wear and tear beacuse PUs are fitted"
Probably. Suspension systems need to work in unison. You may disturb the existing balance by going 'over' on one part without upgrading the rest. PUs are also not quick fixes. If handling is unbalanced, just changing PUs are not going to do it.

Overall conclusion - like jules - "Im on superpro. have fun."

anyone know what the going prices are for upper and lower arm bushes for a E34 ?

Cheers
Dom

well it doesnt crack, but eventhough the pu bushes is still fine, it does have abit of freeplay after a while using it:) Maybe i should change back to stock

Bumping up an old thread :D

Any feedback from superpro users??? I will be replacing mine soon with powerflex but still open to suggestions :D

Hahaha ... what i meant is the front control arm busing (fcab) for the E46 ... mine is in need of changing. I've heard good things about powerflex but i want to know the feedback on superpro ... is it any better? or cheaper for that matter :D

this is an old thread.. So better to state clear rather than to assume... As we know, the word assume is made up of 'ass', 'u' and 'me'... Like they say, to assume to is to make an ass out of u and me.. ;)

Wow somebody must have gotten on the wrong side of the bed today lol .. i'd like to use the phrase 'assumption is the mother of all f*ckups' :D But having said that do you have anything to say about the superpro or powerflex???

Don't think there's much of a difference between these 2 brands. I'm currently using SuperPro in my car, all the major bushes except for a few.

So far after 1 and a half years everything is still fine. I've heard of people who had cracked PU bushes after using them for 9 months but these are people who thrashed their rides like hell so I guess you can't blame the product's quality.

One things for sure, if you're the sort who doesn't like an uncomfortable ride...PU bushes isn't your cup of tea. So make sure you think this through properly before you decide. Don't get it just because you want to save some money in the long run.

Thanks for the feedback! Well i'm on m-paket II suspension (aka clubsport/ZHP) and the ride is quite stiff as it is .. so PU bushes shouldn't be a problem for me ... Mind telling where did you purchase and install the super pro? ...
As it is am comparing prices with OEM, powerflex and superpro ... I've got a quote for powerflex which is around RM390 for the fcab (w/o installation)

Did mine in Tyrezone in Tmn Megah. If I recall correctly it was somewhere in the region of 2.5k including installation. Took a full day to do it cause it involved removing the lower arms and what not.

The superpro bush harder than the original bush, don't know how the ride is comfortable or not.

I'm using Powerflex purple subframe, rear trailing arm, and diff bushings. Definitely feels much tighter after install, even though the old ones were still in decent shape. I didn't really notice much difference in comfort as my ride is already quite stiff and Powerflex purple are actually relatively soft compared to some others, 80A durometer.

hardnesschart.jpg

Superpro seems to be around 80A-90A. It's important to know the durometer rating for the specific bushing you're buying as manufacturers usually have different lines for street and track/race. Dedicated track cars often use 75D or higher, but stiffer is not necessarily better for street cars.

Of course, everyone's tastes and tolerances are different. :D

So i went ahead and bought myself a powerflex bushing for the front control arm and had it installed by my mech.

Powerflex bushing outer part pressed in the housing

Installed on the wishbone with copper grease (comes together with the bushing)

Steering feels a lot tighter and am glad with it. I'd imagine the same is also true with Superpro.

p/s: before anybody ask i got it for RM380 and RM140 for installation.

Edit: Will do my alignment tomorrow :D
