Take ur time in getting a used bmw. I test drove many bmw cars before deciding on my 325i. First is to get it diagnose before u sign the papers. Look out for any oil leakages. Once u have found the car for u, few things needs to be changed as preventive measures. Change the oils and the gearbox oil and pan. ServiCe the car before every 10k km. normal service generally costs around 500. Do read the thread on maintenance to get an idea.

Yes, thanks for the info bro, im definitely gonna test drive few cars before I decide. Any idea where should I bring the car to get diagnosed? And how much do they normally charge ?

Yes, go for it but get a 325i LCI

yes maroonbug, 325i LCI looks yummy but its quiet pricy as well :)) I looking for a car with the price range 100k and below

spend a little more for future peace of mind & get the 325i or 320d for quicker dash

Bro, 320i may be a little underpowered. If you can, go with kolamp's advice and get something more exciting. That's the entire point of getting a BMW right?

Also, do plan your finances out properly, you may find yourself a little too stretched out if you miss out anything.

Spend some time to scour this forum, you will find alot of useful and interesting information about your E90.

I dont know so much about the technical bits. But maybe this is good for a start. Pre-reg E90 by authorised bmw dealer. Last i check glenmarie still have stock, now im not sure.

What i can share is, wear and tear is common for ANY car but expect to pay abit more than other make, bmw parts arent exactly cheap or that expensive either.

Maintainance wise, similar to other makes is important to keep the car running smoothly.

Common problem? from my 3 years experience driving the E90 i have no experience related to suspension, drivetrain or engine. MAYBE hardcore E90 enthusiast can point out to you some common problem related to the E90, try search the forum.

328, 320, for me this is subjective, my friend decides to go for 320d when his initial plan was to go for 328, he claims, he dont need that much power, and whilst petrol price is floating about, price for diesel is always cheaper. cheaper road tax too.

100k and below for E90 maybe you can get pre-LCI. Im not sure whats the market price now. Golf MK5 GTI is another option, used unit can go lowest 130k.

Im use second hand bmw 2005 -2010 ..e90 320 model ..for me this car good comfort compare mazda rx8 im use before this
The fuel com also prety good ...ya ...im lost 5k for 3 week use that car ...emm but until now my car make me smile ..
But im luky maybe coz my frend working in bmw speclist so byk jugak dia bantu untk make my car nicely

Since u're in KL,there's a few good workshops around.i went to deutsch auto in kpg pandan.look for yus the owner.it takes about an hour or so to fully diagnose.get him to jack up the car to check all bushings, arms and undercarriage.

Thanks for the advice Benedict, later im going to test drive one of the 325.. lets see how it goes :)

Hi Bro,

Since you do own a car at the moment why not wait for another few years before you embark into BMW? Then when the time, price and income is right you will be a happier man. Don't rush into BMW bro it's like your dream girl, u never b completely happy if u settle for second best. Just my two cent.

U can buy an e36 ci 325/328 at this moment to tahan2 since its cheap yet resell value won't drop much. It will help you understand the car better.

PS E92 335 is the BMW u should aim for, she be yours soon.

Best of luck bro

Hi, my 320i year 09 used for 6 months. Bought it used from 2nd hand car dealer. No major issue so far. Only minor touch up such as inner door splash shield and front absorbers. Other than, everything perfect!

The realities of earning 6k and buying a 5 year old BMW will be scary. Just say 6k is your actual take home salary. Just assume you buy the 325 LCI. Roadtax and insurance about 4k at least. Instalments about 1,500 per month as loan will be 7 years with interest rate of say 3%. Car cost about 150k. Buy Opal warranty about 2.5k per year. It all adds up.

Now a 5 year old e90 will start to have issues. Ready to replace ABS pump? That's 11k, if service its 2.5k but only 6 months warranty. Fuel consumption is about 13 litres/100 kms. Then there are other maintenance issues.

Not wanting to pour cold water on your dreams and desires but reality is reality. Do it is 6k is your disposable income and you have savings. If not ... You will cry when Banyak Masuk Woksop.

AS ... Why you dun buy 335 la? A 7 year old is cheap to maintain?

if you're getting a e90 320, be ready to spend a lot for topping up engine oil and a potential white smoke problem. its a very common problem.

save your money and buy it cash.u can go for e36 coupe or e46 facelift.try not to loan bro:rock:

I agree with Tianci... at the salary range you're at now, you will not be able to handle any financial emergencies. Does not matter whether its car related or personal related.

I believe in the philosophy of having more cash in my wallet rather than buying an expensive car.

It will not be a fun experience at your current income level. Yes it'll bring you women but it'll also break your wallet. Think wisely bro.

Better wait a little and save a little more. Better to set aside 15-20k for any repairs. Also beware that repairs normally goes above RM 1K easily
