Today around 1pm, my car stalled after 'warming up' for about 5 minutes, can start but press accelerator will not go but go dead instead.

Fuel level low but indicates still can drive at least 27km - 50km.

Exterior temperature was very hot, exterior temp. registers around 39C. But car was doing fine past few days even above 43C exterior temp.

Never encountered this kind of situation before. Not sure if it's related to high-heat. But it so happens that I'm using Xtra95 now.

Previously car was still able to run even after 0km range registered in MID.

Any advise?

PS: Add 5l of BHP and car runs as normal till now.

It could be the beginning of the end for your fuel pump.

If the car starts to stall even with the OBD showing a potential distance of say 40km left, then it means the fuel pump. Happened to me couple of months back.

have been using Primax 95extra for the past few fillings, butt dyno indicates smoother engine compared to Shell, slightly better mileage oso on urban drive. Even the wife says so...can't argue with the wife, haha

well, i have to say its awesome, didnt even notice the performance degrade, its like pay ron95, get 97 performance, great! thumbs up :)

fulltank, ron95 = RM 118+, ron97 = RM 173+ was on the highway doing about 180-190km/h, saw the fuel meter drop like so so little and was surprise as well, lol! telima kase petronas, weee :D

Read in US forum today,Bimmers there are debating the merit of using RON95,while there are lower RON available. We are lucky to have RON97..

Just try my 2nd tank of Xtra95 with adding a bottle of Liqui Moly Octane Plus... Man, you should try! I can feel the immediate power boost and smoother ride.

IM,

I am using ABRO Octane booster and retail from RM13.99 (GIANT) to RM15.50 at ACE Hardware. A few of us are buying in cartons (12 bottles per carton) directly from importer and price is RM 10.00 per bottle or RM100 per carton.

I am still not sure how much it costs because it is a sample from Jack's workshop when I sent my car for service. According to Jack, his supplier just told him around RM30.00 each and buy more can get further discount.

You can feel much different with that added. I just drove to KL yesterday and just back a while ago, I kicked my car from 120 to 200 somewhere near Pagoh for a distance racing with a new 325i. Overtook that car but no guts to maintain that speed.

Dont think we should be calling any names here, if the world fuel price are increasing, what can he do?

That's why...

Even I am paying same road tax as Mr Haywire's E39, when my car is already 24 years old.

Mana boleh macam ni. *Sighs*

But oh well, it's our country. Just gotta make do.

Hope the next salary revision will more than make up for the 'expected' rise in consumables.

Wahahaha... Your suggestion might just work. :p

Anyways, 95Xtra has been really great. Managed to convince my dad to start using Petronas. He said he felt some improvement when he tried it out on the 924. :)

Guys, sorry for my noob question but I have never tried 95. Was told by many the fuel would dirt the engine faster and loss of power bla bla bla....but i never really look into it until I saw this thread. My question is :

Is there anything better in RON 97 apart from performance? Is it really better for the engine? Because i just realised almost all my friends are running on 95.

My cars are m52 and m40, both been on RON 97 every since i have license. Just really curious if its proven damaging or just pure myth?

Thanks and appreciate any of your 2c. Cheers.

Bro, those are older engine than mine, and even my M54 runs on 95 just fine. I dont think 97 was available when your car was manufactured, so why the need? Even some F10 owners here are using 95, so you shouldnt worry too much.

Thanks Haywire, that was a quick one. Some told me older cars should use better fuel possible so as to not burden the engine, all sorts of 'hear say' and having spent so much on my cars, i am just sceptical to try the 95. But looking at this thread, it seems many of you had tried and satisfied with it. Perhaps i'll give it a try.

My only concern is ron 97 really better for engine ? Or myth ?
