sifu,2 week ago, discovered this 'loose' sound characterised as below;1. Coming from top of driver-side absorber;2. Sound is a very discreet, very quick 'kluk, kluk, kluk' and it only comes when i make a sharp left trun and the driver-side tyre going on a set of small ripples on the road;4. Sound also comes when i brake and the tyres going on set of small ripples on the road; All arms, rubber joints, steering rack are tip top (just done less than 3 mths ago), . I changed the top absorber mount when i discovered that it already gave way (rontak) hoping the sound to go away. But no, the sound still there. My mechanic suspects the absorber itself is the problem. But the Sachs are only 14 mth old!! He maybe right cos my front driver-side hankook makan slightly on the outer side even after a couple of times alignment and camber adj. Any opinion?Mine is 528i Yr 2000 CBU

bro azan,

my e46 previous experience regarding the "kluk kluk" was due to steering shaft coupling. but the sound came from the steering wheel itself. might be different case from yours.

When ur car pass the uneven road, will u hear the sound?

nope. it happens only when i make a left turn and the road at the turn have series of small imperfections or ripples. Also when braking at the time when the car about to stop...this one no need to turn the wheel, sound comes out also.

Ask your mechanic to check the D-bush, may be.

all bushes and joints were replaced less than 3 mth ago. my mechanic got a second hand absorbe. he'll put it on tomorrow to see whether is was my existing absorber fault.

if betul, any members thinking of upgrading to B6 or B8 or PSS and wanna letting go off their Bilstein B4 or Boge standards can give me a PM. U got a buyer alrdy :top:

Hahh, PM me when u want to buy..:listen:

i may not be a sifu here , but the kluk kluk sound maybe from some loose disc brake pad ...i had the problem when one of my pad spring went flying ..but that's on an e36 ...u may try touching on ya brake pads and see if there is a loose space there ....

My mech took out the absorber and replaced with a good used unit. no improvement...the sound still there. lastly he said to take check my steering rack. i personally dont think its the rack cos the sound also comes when the car about to stop during staright-line braking (when maximum load fed into the suspension system). Gonna tell him not to bother la. i think i'm just gonna let it be. Hope the sound to be profound enuf later to detect.

iceman,

Checked the brake. no gap. Thanks for the input.

Guys, thanks a lot. Will keep u all updated.

I also have the same problem but on the left side. when i slow down it even louder on uneven roads. Could it be absober mounting. Everthing change. I'm using B8. Six months already very irritating.
