Hi guys,Im new to this forum, currently bought a used E90 2006 320i model (non iDrive)Ive choosen this E90 over a new sonata, 08 Accord/Camry, I hope I made a wise decision, always wanted to own a UDM. There are a few questions that I need to ask u guys..1. How much does the front brake pads costs for BMW Performance 6POT calipers?2. Is my car model using GM or ZF gearbox?3. Ive scouted around the E9x thread & found out that an engine oil & gearbox oil can costs up to Rm2k per service @ AB interval is it true?4. Any recommended cheap & reliable workshop around PJ area? Preferable PJ old town or PJS 1 area. 5. Is BMW Heritage workshop @ PJS 1 recommended? As its near to my house.

Hi Danz, I don't own E90 320i so can't give you any input. Last time when I was staying at PJ, I used to send my car to this workshop somewhere nearby PJ Assunta Hospital. This guy name called Selvam (0122927070). You can check it out.

thanks bro..yeah i was looking for this Selvam guy...heard last time his workshop was at old town, kinda near to my place.
but which area near assunta hospital?

anyways went for service at Heritage Services @ PJS 1
items changed as below
1. engine oil filter RM60
2.BMW performance 6pot brake pads RM1400 (front)
3.rear brake pads RM380
4.front brake sensors RM60
5.rear brake sensors RM60
6.Gearbox mounting RM60 (2 pcs) not sure whats that......cant be that cheap.
7.oil level sensor RM210 (is it that expensive? neccessary to change sensors everytime i change engine oil? as i know my previous sensor is still ok)
8.water hose RM170 (rubber hose that expensive?)
9.upper arm (OEM) 2 pcs RM640/ RM320 per pc
10.coolant RM50
11.engine oil fully syn (WURTH) RM300++
12.ATF filter set RM400
13. ATF oil RM90 for 1L RM720 (uses 8L), is it that much ATF used? as i know should be 4L, max 5L
14.fender plastic cover (to access to HID bulb) RM120 - RM60 per pc
15.workmanship RM724

total bill came up to RM5214.

pls do comment on the parts above, is it reasonable? think i will be patronizing Selvam after this.

wow... is abit expensive bro... many things u can get from BA for much lower price.. like the fender plastic cover i bought for RM30 only..

thats wat i thought too......they charge premium price but workmanship so so only.
can anyone guide me how to get to Selvam BA?

Bro, you can check out Bavarian Auto stockist. They have branches at Subang Jaya or SS2 (opposite Sri Siam restaurant). If I am not mistaken, the OEM pads for the BMW Performance brakes there is RM900. Mind you this is just the parts, not inclusive of installation fees.

i think its on the high side, e60 change engine oil fully synthetic, atf (include pan, filter & gasket) is about RM1.2k. And you don't need to change the oil level sensor everytime you change engine oil.

adriancmh,
will pay him a visit soon hopefully by this week.

mavik,
seriously rm900 only ah, thats cheap compared to Heritage charged me Rm1.4k excluding workmanship...damn...
used to makan at sri siam couple of yrs back....i thought opposite the restaurant are houses...hmm..will check it out again.
can use astroboy's DIY blog to change the pad myself...

u know where is soon huat auto supply in PJ? which area?

fuza,
u bought the parts yourself? can recommend any BMW spare part shop around pj area?

gimli,
i choose Heritage, because 1.read around in this forums & quite a few BCM members go there, so thought y not give it a try. 2. 300m away from my home, very very convenient for me. 3. workmanship wise are ok, at least a senior & junior mechanic worked on my car the whole time. their pricing put me off....overall experience with them rating 1. worst - 10 excellent. will give them a rating of 4.

Danze90, i did not buy the spare parts. Its from the bill. BTW i thought somewhere near ss2 there is one spare parts shop. I always go to cheras taman maluri or segambut.

Like what a lot have recommended, try to get your own parts from Bavarian Auto (nearest to you should be the one in SS2) or Suan Huat (Sea Park). And whenever you patronise workshops if you do not bring your own parts, always check whether parts provided are original BMW or OEM as prices do differ between both.

Not really familiar yet with most E90 parts but looking at the ATF alone, it's pretty pricey. Assuming your gearbox is the ZF one which uses Lifeguard6, per bottle costs about RM55 from part stockists. Normal replacement requires 5.2L while a full flush (when involves removing of filter/pan) requires about 7L. Original oil pan and filter is RM253.

Original BMW coolant is RM30 per 1L (normally needs about 2 bottles to flush whole cooling system). Lemforder (OEM) gearbox mounting costs about RM27 each (needs a pair).

sifu astroboy....
thanks for the location of soon huat.
have read your post since 2006 at motortrader forum...
anyways i read your blog as well, very good info. i have the same problem as u , my aircond has a squeeking sound after 20-30 mins
of driving, or when drive on bumps the sound will appear. is it the blower is at fault & needs oiling?

wingzee,
im afraid i kena 'cekik darah' at heritage, as i wasnt all the time at the workshop to supervise them & ensure they changed all the parts he quoted me, like for example he charged me rm50 for radiator coolant, i asked him got change the coolant meh? he said no just top up only, i asked how many ML? whole bottle? he said no a little bit only...rm50 for that?

1 more thing, i asked him how much for my brake pads for 6 pot BMW performance calipers? he said ooOoo this is M3 ones...i said sure ah? he said yes...i kept quiet as he told me he has more than 20 yrs experience on this....so ok la...he said brake pad for M3 is rm1.2k, after a while he said the supplier brought wrong one, mine was bigger than m3....so change again.....i asked will it be the same price as m3? he said dunno yet...at the end it was rm1.4k per pair for my 6 pot.

kena potong again.

so i walked around the workshop to look at other cars, & noticed most of them are standard cars, not even lightly modded ones, meaning those beemer owners that patronised heritage just send their cars there without concerning bout the prices.

send in car, kautim, pay & chow.....

definately not going there anymore...

guys,
1 question, since e90 does not have water temp gauge, how do i monitor its temp?
or just wait for the water temp icon to prompt me then stop by the road side?
is it recommended to install an aftermarket water temp gauge?
