4 potter bro. The 6 potter costs RM750 because 6.5l of Syntium costs RM600+.

Its just an oil change right (plus filter of course)? Is there anything else that needs attention in between the BSRI?

Nothing else needed, only an oil and filter change.

Tyre air pressure Sir, alignment, irregular tyre wear, look for leaks on the cam cover gasket or oil pan....

:) They're asking about an own cost, in-between BSRI visit to the dealer. If you want the dealers to do those checks for you (which you should be doing yourself) I think the cost will be higher than RM750 per 6-potter.

Aside from the tyre pressure, i thought engine oil levels, radiator levels et al is checked merely through our on board comp or i-Drive. Isn't it as simple as that?

i did an oil change recently for my 323 at AB JB and it cost me 550

That would be around RM364 outside. 6 litres of Shell Helix Ultra @ RM52.25 per litre, oil filter @ RM30 and labour RM20.

Just checked with Ingress this morning and they have to follow your oil counter to claim BSRI. So if you do a precautionary oil change and the oil change countdown counter jumps significantly it gets difficult for them to claim the BRSI if the oil countdown counter has a big gap to go. Based on what they told me, there is no clear SOP in such cases, and this wasnt clearly stated in the CBS letter BMW Malaysia sent out to us. BMW Malaysia do recommend 10k change intervals at owners expense, but this causes the oil countdown counter to jump up in some cases, and BSRI still follows oil countdown counters, meaning you don't get to claim your free oil service when it was supposed to be due. The response is drive around more and it should drop significantly after a while (i.e. past your original claim mileage), then only come back to do BRSI change.

E46 F, I dont undertand. If my last oil change is at 6500km, can I send in under BSRI at 16,500 or 20,000km Currently my mileage is at 15,000 and the meter show I still have 10,000km to go before the next engine oil change.

gud point bro, basically BMW is quoting best practice but policy wise cannot accommodate to make the required changes. so basically its a grey area and they renounce their responsibility by saying that we've informed our customer and implemented CBS.... how clever...

so e question remains.. should we proceed to do our oil changes at 10k intervals or wait for the regular BSRI schedule. maybe we can write a letter to BMW Malaysia or call the BMW Hotline seeking a clarification, any volunteers???

Yeah, what Ingress said doesn't gel with the spirit of the BMWM letter. The countdown is presently set for 25k, the letter says reduced interval to 20k, Ingress says they'll still follow the countdown.

Also did they say why the countdown may jump up in some cases after a mid-BSRI oil change?

Sounds to me like a bit of horse-trading going on here.

It is possible on a legal note that if there is any change in the mileage service, it would be covered by the warranty. With such a notice (I have not seen the contents of the letter itself), it can be assumed that BMW is aware that the current BSRI is inadequate and the notice is a variation of the original BMWS terms itself.

Of course, BMWM may disagree with my opinion and best way is probably to pay THEN bring the matter to the Consumers Tribunal. Might jolt BMWM to finally make their stance clear once and for all.

Question is who is prepared to undertake such task?

FYI Consumer Tribunal does not have any filing charges and the losing party need not pay the other person's cost.

I think we write to one that sign the letter for explanation. I will do that when I can find the time or b4 20,000km of my car

Why not call instead of write? The few people I've spoken with in BMWM are nice and helpful. I got the feeling that they like solving customer issues directly.

For me, if any dealer gives me any cr*p about the BSRI interval, I'll call BMWM right from the service supervisor's desk. I'm due for 20k service next week, so we shall see. ;)

Guys, here are the right persons in BMWM, please get in touch with them for any doubts / clarification.

1) Stephan Rausch - Aftersales Director
2) Mahalingam Maganderalingam - Head of Technical Aftersales

My last and only BSRI was done at 23k km. Now I'm at 32k km.. very excited to pour in my dust colleced SLX and can't wait any longer to drain the SC Syntium LL.. oil filter standing by in my store room lio..

Really not looking forward for BSRI oil change.. their Petronas Syntium LL is crap anyway..

Want to write or call them? Be my guest.. I will be enjoying my Castrol SLX 0w-30 while you all fight for the additional dose of Syntium.. count me out..

I'm surprised etquah is not "converted" yet after using the super smooth SLX.. want Syntium some more ka ???

Went for my 2nd BSRI today, although there was still 1,500km to go on the counter. 1st BSRI at 10k, midterm oil change at 22k, 2nd BSRI at 29k. The counter was reset at 20k or 12/2010, so it would seem they're holding true to the letter.

They also changed my brake fluid, airfilter, microfilter and wiper blades. Excellent service, absolutely free. :top:
