I received a letter from BMW that my car wil be under a new coverage called "New Condition Based Service (CBS)." Anyone else also received the same?how is this different from my current BSRI? A bit confusing.

yup, I received too.

They are saying they very concern about your car, so they bring the BSRI oil change interval down from +/- 25k km to 20k km with the first oil change at 10k km. And despite the shorter 20k km interval, it is still encouraged for an in between 10 km oil change at the owner's expense to ensure even a better engine performance.. :64:

There was a post card available at the SC with similar info but I guess not many customers pay attention to it, that's why the sending the letter out.

Hmmm...that's good...finally! Strange, but I didn't receive this letter, nor the one giving the 10k discount. The only ones I got were the invitations to test the X6 and Z4 :7: Must say, the Z4 is very tempting :105:, but have to keep the marriage going and educate the kids... :106:

How much does a standard oil change cost if I were to change the oil every 10k?

Strange thing happened to my car last week. My oil service counter was steadilly counting down since my last precautionary oil change when the counter was at 11,000 kms to go and instructed Ingress not to reset the oil change interval counter. It was so, and the counter was steadily counting down from 11,000 kms to go downwards. When it was at 6k kms to go last week, one morning, I started the car and it showed 16,000 kms to go. The OBC added another 10k kms to the oil service counter. Bummer. I was looking forward for the free BRSI oil change before my BRSI program runs out early next year. 10k kms is a lot for the OBC to add. Hmm...

About RM600..

Oil filter RM60/pc, engine oil RM95/L depending on which engine u running. N46B20 is 4+L, N52B25 is 7+L.. plus labor loo..

More if you are driving the 6 cyl. Oil alone is ~RM90 per ltr, and the engine takes in 6.5 ltrs. Add filter + labor + taxes to that.

Thanks for the info guys.. mine is only a 320i thus only has 4 cylinders.. slightly cheaper oils

Mine has added 7k km since last BSRI oil change at IA.. still have a valve cover gasket to replace under warranty... for the 3rd time.. after which, I'll be enjoying and joining etquah's vrooom.. vrommm... with Castrol Power Flow 0w-30... hurray!

BSRI oil change..? neehh... nothing to look forward to.. boring Syntium LL..

Received the letter. Aiyoh....will end up doing the servicing at AB according to their schedule and in the interim, buy the filter and have it done at my usual mechanic's and buy castrol edge 5w-40 for it. That oil should be ok for a 320i, right?

I read somewhere that astro does his own oil change? Golly!!You save hundreds each time!!

Perhaps your car is protesting because you're not tekan-ing enough bro... :D

The odometer reading at the last BSRI change would be recorded in their system and your service booklet. So you should qualify for a BSRI change if 20k is up or nearly up, if the letter says that's the new interval. If the dealers baulk at that argument, call the BMWM director who signed the letter and hold him to it.

It may be that they're recognising that 25k is taking a risk of sludging up engines and that is costing them more in warranty claims.

My understanding from the letter received is that they are asking us to do service interval at every 10k km in order to have more joy in driving our bimmers. Another way of telling us that they have wrongly asked us to service at 25k km at the first time.

Definitely looks that way DY. If they have to fix more sludged engines than they originally forecast, then the original CBS plan backfired somewhat. So they have to tweak the plan to 20k, but not tweak it so much as to cover 10k changes. Oh, to have been a fly on the wall in the BMWM meeting rooms when Aftersales and Finance crunched the numbers. :)

oooo if that's the case..maybe i should write in a "disappointment or complaint" letter... n try my luck for free oil change at every 10k?
