Hmm I just learned that your old nick was geoffreylee

I've built an ELM327 interface before to use with my carputer : http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/foru...rputer-project&p=613604&viewfull=1#post613604

And most software to be paired with the interface does not have the capability to read BMW specific codes, they can only retreive data that is required to conform to OBDII standard. So you can't fully diagnose our rides with the interface but can see some useful info.

Hi bro aidilj

Yes, nick changed. Many thanks for your confirmation that the SuperScan cant be used for our car.

My project tonight should be installing INPA, I have trouble installing it last week to my Win7pro 32bit notebook

Cheers

It can be used on our car but it wont be so useful. INPA should work fine on that machine.

Completely agree, INPA is the best tool for bimmers
First, install the BMW INPA software.
1. Run the file “Instprog.exe”
2. Select English, click Continue
There will show the Reference List. Click Continue.
3. Select C:\ as destination drive, and click Continue
4. Select the configuration. Let’s make it “BMW Group Recertification programs UK”, and click Continue.
5. Select “Complete” option next to the “EDIABAS and INPA”, click Continue.
6. Select OBD as interface and click Continue to start installation.
7. Click End when the installation finished.
8. Open Windows Explorer and find “C:\Ediabas\Bin”, open it with notepad
9. Find the “RemoteHost” and “Port”. Change the value with “192.168.68.1” and “6801” respectively.
Save and close the file.

10. Open the folder “C:\EDIABAS\Hardware\OBD” and run “OBDSetup.exe”.
Press any key to continue.
11. Click Windows+Break to open the System Properties: Open “Advanced”, click “Environment Variables”,
12. Select the “Path” system variable, click Edit.
Add a semicolon at the end of the variable value statement, then type “C:\ediabas\bin”, and click OK.

Connect your CarSoft cable to the diagnostic port, and your computer.
13. Open Device Manager, and make certain that your port is:
a. Assigned to COM1
b. FIFO buffers are enabled
c. Receive and Transmit Buffers are set to 8
Please attention: It is necessary to run CarSoft once to get the interface to work with INPA.

14. Start CarSoft, select “Perform Diagnosis”, click DDE.
If failed, you need to get your communications with your interface and CarSoft working before continuing: Start INPA with the shortcut INPA(_.IPO)
