sideways... :p you know me and i know you.. we are friends. one advise... :getyourfactsright: dun simply do the cam sprocket advance the timing thingy...you'll regret it later. :)
if you want to advance the timing..then get it from the real tuners. or you'll waste a lot of money..

and one more time... :) go back to ur class.. !! study first... B) play later :D cipek..!!! :p :D
i should have read this before i started............ripped my pulley cover up n tried to do my cam timing...........now my car has very good low end torque n wheelspins even on third when i change............but seems to run out of fuel at slightly pass 6000rpm!! dont know wats wrong............sometimes on the highway when cruising then if i wana overtake there is a slight delay action like all electrical power cuts off from the engine then only if burst into action..............is tis normal aah?or did i fark up something??can i stroke the fella to a 2.0 with any other donor udm engines?now my fuel consumption has gone up so badly too dat im usuing my friends s14 n its cheaper on fuel..........cant wait for this weekend to redo my cam timing!!!

i think u have retarded the cam timing rather than advanching it..

stroke it to 2.0? I know Hartge and AC has the 2.1 stroker kit but then.......

eer but then wat aah??? moo aah??? like how alpina does dont have aah? they use donor parts from other blocks n stroke it............

u can use the M50 3.0 piston but that would required boring the engine block, but that still can't give u much CC. u need a crankshft to increase the stroke....

btw, the Hartge 2.1 stroker kit for the M42 is scientifically known as "unobtanius familiarus" .. read this

The German tuner Hartge once had a 2.1-liter stroker kit for the M42 engine, but today their scientific name is "unobtanius familiarus." They are long gone. You already have pretty high compression at 10.5:1. If your M42 is like most of them, the bottom end is fine even at 170,000 miles, but you need a timing chain, oil pump, and valve job, or at least new lifters, valve guides, and valve guide seals. If you can stomach the expense of a valve job and a set of Schrick cams, that combined with a chip, intake, and exhaust system will yield about 165-170 hp, which is about all you're going to get out of an M42. And it still won't have much low-end torque. Keep the stock cams and do the rest, and you'll wind up with about 150 hp or so. If it's acceleration you're after, your best best is a 4.27 limited-slip differential from a 1991 318i convertible. This is a bolt-in modification, and it won't affect the speedometer/odometer reading due to BMW's electronic speedometer pickup.

btw, if u google for "Hartge M42" or "AC Schnitzer M42", u can find out more.....

BTW, the Hartge kit cost 15k from what I read in one of the forums... and the thing is 'got money oso cannot buy'.... and it was rated at 175hp max, is it worth it???

here's the famed S42 engine based on the M42

fabian you are right, i read about the s50 pistons, apparently you only get a 50cc increase which is not worth the effort, also the stroker kit from ACS or Hartge cost a bomb, i think they mentioned it was 20k definately not in ringgit, fabian i think we read the same thread in the other forum.

sideways supercharge it la, then sure got torque :nyehehe: :nyehehe: :nyehehe:

reliabality my friend n besides now im using an s14 n consumption is better than my m42 b18..........all i did was a little touch up..........imagine the works with a supercharger??? i would probably have to open up a petrol kiosk just for myself man.............samore i do go out quite often here!!

thanks for the info guys n i spoke to a few IS owners n they said to change ecu will get the best results without robbing ur wallet for fuel!!

i think the S14 is his friends car dude..
sideways sideways always like to drive other ppls car more than your own hehehehe  "cabut"

sideways, when you say change ecu means replaced with after market ones like motec or etc ??? or put a chip into the ecu ?

no.....no.......chipping is a cheaper alternative here cos it doenst cost as much n besides its not much work but minimal increase in power!

motec n other aftermarket ucu's are expansive but it makes the car run optimum at all times and there are those which chance the settings to adjust to ur driving and it can in most cases save fuel as well as give you alot more power!

hope this helps.........

Well... at least u confused for an M3 rather than a 200SX. To the "other guy", no offence if you're reading this... Joke, joke only... :)

A car needs to be driven... nuff said...
