Hi Guys,Just want to share my recent upgrade with you guys. Before I begin, I wish to thank the N54 bro's who have posted their reviews in e90post, and N54.com. Without their experiences I would not have gotten the knowledge required for this upgrade. Now let's begin, about a month ago my turbo's began to show symptoms of wastegate rattle, and loss of power, probably due to my heavy right foot. Coincidentally, I was scouting around places where I've been in the past for turbo overhaul (Turbo tong, Turbo One and etc). These shops have their plus and minuses but eventually I decided on one. While going through the list of options, which are:1. Remain TD03 turbo housing with bigger compressor wheel2. Single turbo upgrade (which needs new manifolds and other stuffs)4. TD04 turbo's with machining to the manifold and other parts.I decided to go to option 1, mainly because of safety reasons, and closer to OEM. Bigger size compressor wheel replace the factory one, clipped exhaust wheel with aggressive rake was replaced as well. Overhaul kit was a no brainier since the turbo was taken apart. Bigger sleeve for the wastegate valve should take care the rattle issue. The culprit behind my problem is due to the sleeve (that attaches the wastegate rod and exhaust outlet valve ,located in the manifold). This part moves globally, hence a new bigger sleeve replaces the old part. The second issue is the ECU, but was eradicated since I'm running on v3 from Procede map 7-29 (6AT upgrade turbo). With the turbo works and ECU on its way, I needed to tackle the fuel pump. In the past I've experience limp mode while driving but couldn't get the DME codes because of Procede (it deletes the codes automatically once engine is switched off/on). But being a risk adverse driver, I place an order for a new fuel pump just in case. Now that the whole works is completed I'm running the car through its paces and will WOT @ 300km (20km short of 200 miles). The whole ordeal took about 3 weeks inclusive of public holidays. It was a scramble to get them done on time but worth the effort. So far, the car's AFR is hovering above 10ish, and pick up around 1.5k-2k rpm has a little more punch than pre-turbo upgade. Disclaimer: The info provided are based on my personal experience and is not a direct reflection to other vehicle and its owners (i.e. read at own risk, and don't hold me liable)For photo's please browse through my album. http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/album.php?albumid=419Updates:14/5/12 - 1st 50km, the car just wanted to go off the line but had to restrain myself from accelarating. Gearshifts are smooth but occasionally jerking (probably procede is learning and adapting to the changes). Exhaust note more grunt (maybe because I haven't driven the car for a while).15/5/12 - Now its about 120+km with the new turbo's, jerking reduced. Am now on autotune rather than 7-29map. Turbo whistle is apperent (sounds like Mit Triton turbo spooling). Rev is limited to 1-3k rpm max. Yesterday was 1k-2k max.16/5/12 - WOT yeehaaa!, got the green light yesterday and oh my, car flying and feels lighter. Turbo spooling sounds like a superharge M3, hahaha. Saw supergripen's car behind MSD yesterday, nice mod by the way. Next update will be the last. Cheers!12/7/12 - Final UPDATE! Just changes spark plugs and boost sensor. Ordered new coils and injectors just in case. Remember to change your injector values using INPA, Princevick can help you with this. The car runs phenomenal and power is 300-330whp @ 3-3.5k rpm climbing to 4XXwhp with 5X tq/kg @ 6+k rpm, Car wheel spins like mad and power never ends. Fortunate for me the petrol consumption is abt 400km for full tank with mix of casual and spirited driving. MSD sales guys took it for a spin and the smile on their faces tells it all, ask them for a 3rd party testimonial. Thanks for reading and Moderator please close thread if applicable.
