shudnt limit by age.. doesnt make sense.. as good as saying young people no good.. only people older than 45 yrs is good enuff?

emm, like dat siti nurhaliza how? :D

yeap i also think it shouldn’t limit by age. Well anyway feel that all datukship has no value now days as most who having it miss use it in every way which is possible..30 years back datukship is only given to citizens who bring up a community or creates job opportunities to the society and also bring fame to the country but now datukship can be bought…so siti nurhaliza maybe got it coz she made malaysia known globaly..

I think this age limit thing is a quick fix but really too short term and not fully thought out. This is exactly the thing that I fear about Malaysia where people look at your age to determine your capability. This is rampant at the workplace and I am really not very happy with it. It should be based on pure meritocracy and nothing else. Hence what needs to be done is set a CLEAR criteria on who can be awarded Datukship.

Datukship used to mean a lot in the past but in my view it means nothing these days. They should have stopped giving out Datukships like it was going out of fashion in the last 10 years. Look at what happened after the last UMNO Elections, record awards by Melaka and Pahang. But I am sure they had their reasons as most of us are not privy to the real criteria. We only hear that if you take care of someone here and there or pay money, then can get Datukship. I think awards like these should be limited in numbers anyway as it would mean something. Of course some people really deserves it and I fully support it.

But hey, what the heck do I know right?

Selangor Datukship alwayz the hardest to get. But who knows maybe $$$ can get one. Heheee.

Transparency??? Man, you are asking for too much!!! :p hahaha

It would be interesting to see how many people holding datuk/tan sri titles are :

1. Not from the civil service/armed forces (presently or formerly)
2. Not attached to any political parties
3. Does not own shares in any PLC or hold a top management post in any PLC/MNC
4. Not from the entertainment/fashion/sporting world

I would like to see the common people who dedicate their lives to better others' lives get recognised, the people who run orphanages, old folks home, do charity work, or even inventors.

c'mon la. be realistic in your expectations. we are living in a country where we send ppl into space to play whachamaccalit???? batu seremban. truly b***h!

Well said OS Flanker.... have you ever wondered how Azhar mansur became a Datuk and those chumps that reached the peak of the himalaya's and the 2 brothers that actually reached the north pole... did they get any datukship ??? maybe they did, but the last time I heard of them they were still your average Joe's.......geeessss

By now, we should all know the remedial action taken by our leaders in most cases are mediocre at best, and thats an understatement. For instance, UMNO supreme council will decide whether to provide live telecast of future UMNO General Assembly proceedings due to the overwhelming racial undertones and threats from their delegates that have caused much discomfort amongst other races in this country. The correct action is to put these F.arkers under ISA. That would stop them from making seditious remarks.

looks like this is running OT........:(

again you have to be realistic in your expectations. We cannot decide what is seditious or not. From the recent/past donkey years, the political reality is: what is deemed seditious only applies if such remarks are directed towards certain group of citizens having the tendency to run amok. It is not seditious if directed to the certain, esp.second class citizens which does not harbour such tendencies.

Does it really matter what age one attains the status of a wanker?
These days most of the recepients don't deserve it anyway, so the age limit is a moot point.

Not to mention the yearly contribution for His Highness...

But I have utmost respect for the Selangor Sultan, at least His Royal Highness has demostrated he is not willing to tolerate nonsense emanating from civil servants and politicians alike. Hidup Tuanku!

There are two categories, paying and non paying ones. Rates vary according to states la..probably cheapest would come from states without Sultans. Non paying ones usually reserved for civil servants, politicians and the few* that have contributed to the country.

Nowadays, its better to have the title Mr. or Encik, richest man in Malaysia has shunned all titles, prefer to be addressed as Mr. Kuok.
