Aiseyman puss,

Please don't say you cannot afford a BMW la. Already official member maah..Where's everybody? Nobody likes to talk about Mazda cars aahh..? So eksyen one you all ahh..I've driven the Mazda 3 while holidaying in Europe. Very fun car to drive and very economical. The one I had was 2.0 L version, 4 cylinder 16 valve DOHC - S-VT with 108kW. It is a good performer for town driving and fast enough on the highway. The things that I didn't like were the visibility issues. Rear visibility was limited with its small rear window and side visibility as well. The feeling was the same if you drive Alfa 146. A bit of tyre noise as well. I don't know which version they have here in our country. If possible, get the MAzda 3 SP23, powered by 2.3 litre engine 16 valve DOHC S-VT 115kW. It has 5 speed auto transmission. This one is using Bose sound system. I just hope they bring the Mazda 3 MPS which is also using the 2.3L but comes with Direct Injection Spark Ignition turbocharged 16 valve DOHC, 190kW summore!! But this model only comes with 6 speed manual transmission.

funfer... she's gone the land of OZ...

dun know about the price bmw's there..

Hey FF,

I believe the one you drove is what i am referring to buy, new. And yes, thanks to Pussy, i am now in Down Under. The Mazda 3 comes in 3 models (Neo, Maxx and SP23), and either hatch back or sedan. Yes Sp23 is ideal but for that price, i might as well top up another 5-6k for a Mini Cooper S. No money leh......

Visibility is bad? wow, i better check again. In fact i have put a booking fees for it last week. Thank goodness is refundable. I went for the test drive, and i must say it felt good and almost near to BMW 1-Series, that's why i just book it. It is also easter sales anyway, with 3+3 years warranty. The car is worth 26k. I compared it with Toyota Corolla Ascent, and Mazda has more features and function and it is a 2.0 L car with in-line 4 cylinder 16 valve DOHC S-VT with 108 kW@ 6500rpm, where else Toyota is only 1.8 L. For 2008, the new Mazda 3 comes in all sports edition irregardless of models. I believe the comparison for Madza 3 SP23 for Toyota is Toyota Corolla Levin.

Anyway, thanks for your feedback. Poor people like me no choice lor...... But, i'll be back (like what Arnold used to say). Hehehehehe.

I didn't know you are in down under. I just came back from Melbourne Motor Show on the 6th of March. That's where I went crazy. I saw this 3.0L BMW X6 that is going to be launched third quarter this year for only AUD111K! So cheap! But you guess what? I spent most of the time inside the new Subaru Imprezza. It's imprezzife. I like the looks as well as the performance. The new Imprezza 2.0R Auto is selling for only AUD26,490.00. If I were you, I would consider buying this car even if I already set my mind on the Mazda 3. Give yourself a chance to own a Subaru. Check it out at www.subaru.com.au As for me, I already fell for the WRX STi spec R.

Hey FF

I know. I saw the Subaru but i am not so Subaru gal leh...... Mazda looks better lor for me. Subaru veli gung ho and then got people buntuk me how? Don't want la.... i want to stay low profile lor.....

Alot of crazy people here too leh.... Mitsubishi EVO is also cheap but again not m y type lor.... Just want to have feedback on Mazda value for money for a gal.

Yeah the colour is galaxy grey.

i reckon the new subaru impreza looks terrible. looks like its been hit by an ugly stick.

the evo is cheap but also keep in mind the insurance etc on turbo/supercharged cars. been looking for a jcw cooper s for my brother (he is 17) and the insurance is $4000 AUD as it is supercharged!!!!

oh forgot to mention that the 2008 update mazda3 is on sale now and the neo spec model is no longer available in the update. what they have is a neo sport model which comes with some extras. if you can afford it, avoid the 2007 model neo (dealers will still try to sell you the older models they have in stock) as it lacks some of the features such as curtain airbags available in the higher spec models.

puss, if you have any questions about the car feel free to ask.

I totally agree about getting the kangaroo. The roads here is so bad that you will not want your baby to go through it. Trust me, Malaysian roads are so much better. or rather Kuala Lumpur(apple-apple comparison). When you actually say it to the Aussies, they say "Ow, yeah, Sydney is an old city, but roads in Melbourne and Brisbane is much better". So, while i am here, i really don't see myself spending that money on cars in Sydney.

Yeah, Kangaroo is a damn good idea.

Mazda 3 2.0 quite a nice car IMO. Many of the 5 doors in Thailand are mostly owned by the younger generations, and parents give them the money to mod their cars. I see many Kenstyle Mazda 3s, and they look pretty cool. Never driven one, but I heard it does quite well compared to other Japanese makes.
