Assalamualaikum and hello to everybody..i'm going to send my car soon for engine swap,hopefully..need an opinion from u experience guys, maybe i can change my mind for the last minute, to avoid regret in the future..which is more reliable and practical between these two? I've done my research and still a lil bit confused..tq

If there's nothing wrong with the Hartge, just keep it running... U might actually regret taking it out later...

Anyway, have u found out how much roughly to do the conversion now? I only been hearing complaints that halfcut prices have gone up a lot for the past 2-3 years.

Roughly around 16k, but been discussed with the workshop they're willing to trade in with hartge. Current engine too much problem already when i bought it, gearbox also nearly kong.

M50TUB25 - 2.5L single Vanos.. this is from E36 325i and E34 525i 24V (Cast iron engine block)

M52B28 - 2.8L single Vanos.. from E36 328i and E39 528i (Aluminum alloy engine block)

Which is better? The cast iron block is supposedly more robust...

The m52 is 1kg heavier than the original m20,which is 118kg. M42 halfcut susah mau dpt nowadays,..i know it is lighter, 84kg right? But no replacent for displacement ma.. :)

Don't think the M42 is that light... closer to about 100kg..

Btw,it is between m50b28 vs m52b28

There is no such thing called m50b28. ALso depending on the year one is non-vanos and the other one is vanos. Also, don't forget about the OBD. the other main important thing is the EWS. m52b28 is EWS2 and you have to make sure you have the mathicng ignition key, matching EWS unit if not wiring to by pass the EWS is a pain.

Ya,sorry bout that.it's m50b25 vs m52b28. Obd1 vs obd2, have merely the same HP but less torque.. is the alloy block easily damaged? That's what scares me.hmm..

if it scarces you dun put it in...drive with the original engine...

does your mechanic knows how to eliminate the engine die off during slowing down ?
