Just a further, would a adapter plate between the head and block change the compression ratio? which is important for NA performance.....

block and head can both be shaved to compensate for the additional thickness of the plate/adaptor......there are always other component that can be manipulated........conrod length, pistons,crankshaft,etc

Oh yes, milling off to compensate is a possibility. modding any of the moving parts...is a bit more gung-ho!

like tj mentioned...using m50 conrods and pistons would be interesting as the conrods and pistons are lighter, the crank would need some modification to fit if i am not mistaken.
