Hi Guys.. Just wanted to share my depressing experience with True Fitness gym. I've been a member of True Fitness Jaya 33 for 2 years already. Before I joined, the staff were all extra nice and so friendly. But after signing the membership and paying thru my credit card, they now DONT BOTHER TO GREET me anymore. Initially, they said that if i recommend a new member they will give me a FREE NIKE SHOEBAG. But after i recommended a friend who actually signed up, they NEVER GAVE ME THE BAG despite asking them so many times until I myself felt shy to ask already. DAMN CHEAPSKATE!! Even something as cheap as a shoebag also want to cheat their members. After that, I was stupid enough to sign up for their True Spa which was going to open soon (2 years ago). After paying the membership for both my wife & I, we were told that they got delay in opening. So we waited for 2 months. Then they said OPEN FOR LADIES ONLY!!! CRAP!! Empty promises and always trying to cheat members money!! LOUSY TRUE FITNESS!! So, I went to see their Spa Manager and told her off and CANCELLED my Spa membership. I should have charged them for the loss of potential investment. When the gym first opened, they rostered trainers in the gym who were supposedly to guide new members with their training. BUT all these TRAINERS do is come up to new members and COAX PEOPLE TO SIGN UP FOR PERSONAL TRAINING!! When u ask them for training tips, they unwillingly teach u just a little bit and then start PROMOTING PERSONAL TRAINING again. And this PERSONAL TRAINING COSTS RM100+ PER SESSION which lasts 1 hour only!! Many of their trainers are not even well qualified!! So it is like paying a blind man RM100 per hour to guide the blind!! THIS IS CRAZY!! Now after 2 years of joining this lousy True Fitness club, my membership has ended in end of July 2009. Since I'll be working in KL for another 3-4 months, I've requested with them for a monthly membership because my schedule is not fixed. Guess what they told me? They said that my previous membership is NOT CONSIDERED ANYMORE. I HAVE TO PAY NEW PROCESSING FEE (RM140) TO APPLY FOR NEW MEMBERSHIP AND PAY MONTHLY FEE OF RM209 per month for a four month contract. I told them that I cannot commit because I am not sure when I'll be transferred. So, their BEST OFFER WAS PAYING THE PROCESSING FEE (RM140)MONTHLY PLUS MONTHLY FEE (RM249) EVERY MONTH!! WHICH MEANS THAT I HAVE TO PAY RM389 PER MONTH TO BE A MEMBER OF THIS CRAPPY TRUE FITNESS!! TOTALLY ABSURD!! I reminded them that I have been a member for 2 years already. DOESNT THAT MEAN ANYTHING??!! CRAP!! Obviously NOT!! So, my advice is: AVOID TRUE FITNESS and do check the contract carefully before signing for any gym membership.

I agree with you. I am one of the many victims of True Fitness too. Signed up as a member back in 2007 during which I was treated very nicely and a lot of sweet talking too. The salesperson even told me I could cancel my membership after 24 months contract and payment. Well, recently my 24 months period is up but I was told that I cannot cancel my membership. Went to Desa Sri Hartamas branch yesterday to submit my written notice on the cancellation and was told all these crappy stuff. Anyway, the person who handled my complaint yesterday promised to call me today for the details of my agreement but she has not done so. Hmm, I am too tired now to elaborate further...will do so in one of these days when I have the time.

My piece of advice... if you intend to sign up as a member, please ask them tonnes of questions and read all in black and white carefully. To be continued...

I only know RM175 charged to my Credit Card every month and my missy only go there once a week, max.. :(

I suppose its the same everywhere even California Fitness also like that...pay advance for Personal training session but everytime make booking always tak jadi wan if jadi also when u turn up the trainer doesnt...so fed up when to top management and demanded for a refund....so now no gym, car less power...knn.

Forget about all these langsat gyms la, just for show only to cheat money from people like you flers. Go join a decent gym i.e. Gold Gym in Ampang Park or the Clark Hatch chain. Quite certain there are a few more but not sure whereabouts.

not sure what you're hinting at here, but I guess you would fit in real fine with the faggots.

gold gym is filled with seasoned bodybuilders who could teach you a thing or two. newbies can get free consultants.

FYI, I don't need to go to a pay someome to know how to use the machines, I can teach you how to use them if you need some guidance. Btw, I also have access to a free & world class gym... so keep walking:)

no need gym larrr ....wash car , wipe car , detail or polish the car ...all in one package for free ...

that's my gym

Ive been with Clark Hatch for several years now....Crown Plaza Mutiara before and now a member in their Plaza Mont Kiara gym. No problems with them at all...staff are all very friendly and ever willing to assist. Do let me know if those of you find Mont Kiara convenient as i know them quite well and can most probably negotiate a good package.

Agree with Okow, was with Clark Hatch for a few years, no hassle, friendly trainers, available all the time. Best part, you can just walk in with your office attire, they provide you with shorts, t-shirts, shoes, socks and towels ;)

I was a member with Pavilion TF. Pavilion TF was basically fine, some trainers will teach you to use the equipment but will also coax you to sign up personal trainers.

My horror begun, when I transfered from Pavilion TF to USJ TF (need to pay for transfer fees). On the very first day when I visited USJ TF, my locker was opened so professionally that the lock remained intact. My loss, a RM50 note and my phone, emotional loss also as I didn't do back up, so I lost most of the contacts. Complained to the branch manager and wrote an email to the club operations director. Guess what, both of them told me to change to a bigger lock. I was using the very same lock at Pavilion and nothing happened. Nevertheless, they gave me free 3 months usage of the gym, but no compensation can never be enough for loss of contacts.

Then it went downhill from there. I got my membership card for USJ TF, 6 months after. Equipments breakdown frequently. Sometimes the air con at the gym and locker room is not switched on. The only good thing is, personal trainer don't coax you into signing up with them.

Guys, I believe this is a common problem especially with gyms. But try to google for TF and you would find more negative feedbacks rather than good ones. Well, the lady did not call me pertaining to the copy of Agreement which she promised to obtain from the admin HQ and peruse thru together with me. I am not surprised that she did not call as I've expected this to happen.

Yeah, times are bad now and more gym operators are hungry for membership. So perhaps they could negotiate till you are happy with the package.

Worldwide access? Yeah, mine is too but what's the point of paying RM192.50 per month? I think I've been victimised.

I am not saying that signing up for gyms is bad but the sales people "persuading" and misleading consumers are a bad move. They should burn in hell~

Sorry, too tired after work... could not control my language :)

Judging from you guys comments, TF really sucks.. And the owner is Singaporean some more. I thought Singaporeans have high standards for everything. Or is it that we Malaysians are lower standard so it's ok to cheat us??!! WTF! Now I am waiting for our clubhouse @ Desa Parkcity to open so I can use the gym there. Heard that it's well equipped.. Keeping fingers crossed!

From what I've heard, under TF, the earlier you join as a member, the cheaper the package is. This is mainly due to the needs from time to time to purchase new equipments, to hire more staff and trainers, to open up more branches and not forgetting to maintain these equipments so that they are in working condition. In short, we are actually helping the owners to finance all these overheads....hmm.. worth it?

Obtaining "financing" from your portfolio of customers is relatively cheaper than obtaining financing from commercial banks... public fund raising it seems.

Becoz of the modus operandi, I dont think TF is really successful, dunno if they could survice long in the market or not, at least in Malaysia.

Fellas, time for y'all to switch to Clark Hatch la. Proven track record in MY, I've heard good things about them since way back in the mid 90s when commercialized gyms were literally non-existent here. Hassle free la:)
