Hi! What is the distance range for the remote key to function? Seems mine is less than 1 meter from the car......No need remote already, like manual la plak......What should I do to get more distance? Also there is no sound at all....only the light is on/flashing! Anybody has the guideline to change the remote ket setting? Thanks!!!!

mine also about 1 meter only. inconvenient get into the car during raining...ppl said is safety purpose wor !!

My E39 can open the door from 20-25 meter away...

Tips from Jeremy Clarkson: If the remote range is short, put the key touching the side of your head (where you would stick the koyok when you have fever) and press the lock/unlock button. Worked for me to extend the range!

Mine also around 1mtrs radius. As for the sound .. go to menu , 'car control' and find for 'acoustic' and 'tick' it. I think it will work . I remember i read it in the e60 manual .

all the keys are different ... the have different specs and are set to different cars...
mine also around 1 meter to 2 meters... but my frens car 2 blocks away behind glass in his pocket can open boot... crazy

What! Thats nuts! What kind of key controller is that? I will live in constant state of weariness every time I touch my key in my pocket whilst walking at the shopping mall then in fear of accidentally disarming my car! In any case, my bimmer have no 'sound' option as well. In my opinion, let the little thing go and just enjoy what we have and just be happy no 'warning' messages comes up in the meantime.....

i've learned to live with mine despite it's short range...just enjoying the car...

btw des, are u in section 16, PJ? just asking cos i'm in sect 17 next door

Hey!! That's really nearby! Let's meet up for mamak at the CIMB branch there one day :) Will PM you my contact soon ya!

Buy from ebay, cheap cheap, should be under RM50 I think. Bought mine from a seller in UK while I was there, only GBP6.50 (About RM32.50)

This is the old and new key

The blank key before being cut

The guy cutting it. By the looks of the machine I believe its also capable of cutting the 'snake' cut in some other type of diamond key. Look for a locksmith which have that machine. Should be quite common. I was charged RM30 just to cut.

Key after it has been cut. You need to remove the internal from the old one to the new one (obviously).

Comparison new ori key with new replacement cover from ebay:

Left is ori BMW key, right is ebay key cover.

Quality quite good. Ori key has more grain, ebay cover has more plasticky feel to it, but its all good.

Hey bro, thanks for the info. But dont u need to transfer the internal ori key to new key?

The uncle got sell the bmw key cover or not? Or can let me know where to find him? Tq.
