ok this is sort of an faq for the jap spec e60 which i am compiling over here for the benefit of all. 1) do not install the radio fm booster (12/16/20 mhz) - it will affect your remote key in the long run - lose the ability to have chair memory - unable to upgrade the software completely if you are planning to move to the latest version (i think v30.x now) 2) the radio will be something like 70-90mhz and the only proper workaround is to change the whole CCC unit to a UK/MYS spec. Alternatively i was told there is an RF interface to change at the back of the CCC which I have not tried 3) MP3 does not work with jap spec ccc despite upgrading the software to the latest version. You will need to change the CCC to UK/MYS spec to play MP3 on the cd player. 4) jap spec navigation does not work PERIOD. If you want navigation here are your options - change your ccc to uk/mys spec and get the malaysia singapore dvd map for BMW Navi OR attach the ACM Module and connect Garmin GVN 52/53. I prefer the Garmin Navigation over the BMW Navi. This is a matter of preference. 5) The BMW phone does not work as per my understanding. It is only for Japanese phone. Unless you have bluetooth this is forgone conclusion. 6) Under no circumstances that you try to put in a 3rd party system to the i-Drive like those Korean interface that connects to the i-Drive screen, splice the wire to connect amplifier and etc... After much research and horror stories from workshop go down ori path or get the ACM Module. That is the safest bet. Also please connect direct to the battery and not splice any cable. Perhaps our people are not ready to handle such complex systems. uk spec or jap spec? well at the end of the day it depends on what you want. if you find a good condition uk spec go for it. it is definitely more complete and compatible with malaysia. some of the nice to have features that i have been researching (original) Logic 7 - retrofit kit costs a bombDynamic Drive - has anybody added this?

Logic 7 - retrofit kit costs a bomb

CCC is the system that controls the i-Drive - sits behind the center console. can any guru in this forum tell us what CCC stands for?

The frequency booster came as a freebie from my dealer. Why would it affect the remote or chair memory? So far those items are OK on my car, but if you have adverse experience, then maybe I'll speed up my upgrade of the CCC

wow..this is indeed bad news for those with jap-spec cars.again, the shortcomings of getting a jap-spec car is brought to our attention..

i have installed a freq booster for my car, which is,surprise surprise a jap-spec.so far i've not experienced any problems other than having static in areas of even slightly poor reception.but i appreciate that the problem is in the long run..

seems like there is no other way to solve this othet than going for a CCC conversion la..shucks.

so here's my idea.. why not we(jap-spec owners)get together and maybe go nego a deal on a group-buy thingy.maybe we can get a more reasonable price for the job??

i'm putting down my name here just to start a list of people that are interested..not a group-buy list yet but just a list of names la..

Thanks

i am using it for about a month now...so far ok la..still learning about the car...

but there is a creaking sound sometimes inside the cabin..apparently it is quite common...other than that..coz i have not done the CCC conversion..so everyday looking at maps of japan..and listening to losuy frequency radio...

i feel the engine response at low speeds is not very impressive..but once u put yur foot down..then the syokness comes..

overall the car is fine..mine is standard 16" rims..yurs is 17" right?..nice...

hi nicolas, i have been using my E60 for 10months old (car handed to me on 2007 sept). well my problem is similiar as what maccasel mentioned in his replied. mine also 16". i spent RM5k for the car fully inspection (after driving for 8months old) as i doubt the odo meter that hit only 13km since the car is 2005 (1st registered in japan). and another RM3k for my 4tyres. overall japan spec is good. but u need to spend extra $$$ since we r in msia (CCC conversion, fully inspection, tyres, etc. etc.) which really gonna cost you at least for RM20k extra...no kidding

hi guys..

another thing to share..was told by the guys at ingress auto that the meter can be tampered with..but the key cant..and they have a key reader which reads about the car..mileage, last service, next due..

trust worthy?..dunno la..i take it as it is la..hehe
