does anyone know the sizes of the various speakers around? what brand? i was thinking of upgrading..

CKD Units

Fronts: 5.25" midbass in the doors and a 1.25" tweeter in the door pillar.
Rears: 5.25" midbass on the rear parcel shelf.

The speakers are made by Nokia.

AB did offer an aftersales upgrade which includes a DSP amp and a pair of small subs. I dont remember the size of the subs. I am also told that there werent many takers.

Now that you know what the stock speakers are and their locations, over to you to decide on what you want to upgrade and at what budget. It wud be easier for us to suggest some options once we know these as well as your music taste too.

Abang Saat, not surprising that there were very few takers for that upgrade package. It was almost similar to the mucho expensive but over-rated Harmon Kardon package that BMW offers in a lot other markets. Guess not all factory systems sounds as good as the Lexus / Mark Levinson system or the Volvo / Dynaudio system ...

P/S - En. Kahar being the resident E46 MOD King ... you la shud start the ball rolling, bang !!!

it's ok... i'll keep it for my grandchildren la....

anyway, i think Van has a bigger speaker 4 his bimmer.... ask him la how he did it.....

pstt... i have a helix 5.25" component set, and a CDT CL5X oso 5.25". not yet installed in my car... wonder how it sounds like in the bimmer......

If yours is a CKD model, refer to the above post by Saat detailing speaker size and location. And yes ... they are made by Nokia as with the ones from E36.

Mine are 6.5 inch DLS units ... mounted at the stock location on a modified MDF / PVC panel that blends in with the original panel. The drivers however are angled approx. 30 degrees into the cabin for better staging ... Pics and etc later.
