okok....sure do...thanks astroboy...it is pure joy to owned 1 already...not matter wats the problem...

Humming from the rear has many possibilities.

If you just own the car, then can't ask you what u have just changed before the sound.. :( Less one important piece of the jigsaw puzzle.

Posibilities:

1. Tyre
2. wheel bearing
3. rear diff box
4. rear drive shaft

What's your mileage? Have u replace oil for the car? Engine, ATF, rear diff oil?

my 46 had the same problem...one irritating humming...the mech changed the wheel bearings but still same..a second hand long shaft solved the problem. Heritage, old klang road- 2K

whats ur humming sound sounds like when the shalf is gone?..???my is 80-90 there is 1 thn 110kph another 1 bassy humming....are urs same sysmtoms..

Wheel bearings will give the sounds at no matter what speed you drive, I would agree with johnj that it is caused by the long shaft. I'm having that symptom too at exactly 110km/h, so far I just ignore it and either go beyond or lower than that speed. Just changed my drive shaft and rear wheel bearings so sudah koyak....especially after hari raya.

check the drive shafts first.. even if no tear in boot covers, just get a mech to clean the bearings and sapu new grease. won't cost much.

zeedo is right! Selective speed humming is not the wheel bearing. Can possibly be differential box. Try changing the rear diff oil.

Yup...I did change the oil, tried swapping diff's, drive shafts and finally concluded that the longshaft had a problem...it's the bassy sound alright...btw, even if there is a problem with the rear diff or drive shafts, you will encounter that noise as well..

Thanks guys..u guys helpful...I'm still noobie abt my car..I better get the mechs to check it right away...hopefully is just bearing problem....if shaft that would have burn my pocket...thanes alot guys

let bring up this topic again...brought to mech check..said might be tyre noise.....oh well..since tyre is left 20% thread..decided to change..still same thing...

wen back to mech said..change diff oil...doesnt improve anything..so conclusion might be drive shalf as johnj said...

how much is those shaft goin to cost me???? my is m43b19...isit using the same shalf as all other...e46

U can get the price from BA, Inner Power or those the spare parts shops along jln Ipoh KL

Usually its the longshaft coupling, it doesnt require to change the whole longshaft. For backwheel vehicle such as BMs , Mercs, lorries always have LS coupling problem due to wear and tear. Basically by logic the longshaft is made in steel and round shape. It has nothing to spoil or to be repair, check the coupling.
