Golf GTi Merdeka Offer!

I test drove the Golf GTi over the weekend. It was fantastic, perfect for town driving and at RM190k ( after taking into account a RM8k over trade), its a real bargain! Definitely the car to get under RM200k. I wonder how it would compare to a E90 325i. I know its a different type of car (and > $$) but that's what I aspire to have, but the GTi is really tempting. Food for thought.

its a nice car the GTI, but its still its no UDM...the brands itself is FOLKS-wagon (translated) which means cars for the masses...and thats how the german themselves see it too...if you want prestige+fun to drive+chic magnet = UDM

Lovely car the GTi, no question. However in that price bracket, I would struggle to decide between a GTi and a Scooby STI Ver 8 or 9.

A real tough choice!

But...its FWD and its a folkswagon. Have tested the 130i vs the GTi, back to back.

Clearly the 130i is the superior hatch.

Shucks, but at that price, the 130i can buy 2 Golf GTis. I think the 1-series is a great car but BMW must reduce the price leh...

The usual comparison should be between the R32 vs 130i? Driving dynamics the RWD 1 series may have an edge but in terms of overall package the BMW is let down by the interior space and trunk.

What to do......thats why you should not simply test drive, then kena the bug very hard to shake off.

To date I have been very responsible financially and restrained myself and only purchased what I could afford to pay cash but I am getting really tempted to reward myself in a couple of years time...lets see.

For now I'll just have to sit back and salivate!

I'm can told everybody now driving BMW 325 OR 330 OR E46 & E90 model also cant compare with GTI, everytime Golf GTI can 'tapau' them on he road no need to smell........I'm sure......

R32 interior and trunk space also not much better than the 1-series la.

Anyway, I don't think anyone buying a hot hatch will be too concerned about this.

The 130i does come with M Sport bodykit, suspension, seats, steering, rims and etc, where the GTi is very bland without any performance bits. If you consider all these bits and pieces, then the price differential isnt so great afterall.:rock:

Very true... Only chance the 325 and 330i will have is on a rolling run over 120km/h and above.. However, most GTI's who are playing with you aren't stock.. so there is a big question ? there.

However, the GTi is a different category car on the road. Might attract the Evo's and Scoobys which usually makes the GTI owner kecut a bit to run. The saying is true, there is always a faster car out there hehe.

The GTI is supposed to be bland, those rare ones with bodykits looks blardy weird lah. Think size wise it is bigger than 1 series and it also comes with a spare wheel. Anyway those bodykits more trouble than it is worth in my opinion anyway, my old junk can overtake M3 anytime .... when the road got speed bumps :aetsch:
