Greetings,
I live in Ipoh and work in Simpang Pulai. I drive my E90 320i up and down Cameron Highland several times just for fun. So, whats the problem? Enjoy...

Do you meet any Toyotas on the way? More specifically a bad ass Corolla coupe with big Ah Beng GT wing and another old school KE20 coupe with constant wagging tail......

If you see them stop by the roadside...just go and say hello. He is a forumer here too.

Say the Yellow E30 ask you to say hello.

IMHO BMWs should not risk driving up Cameron.

Why? Because BMW roadside assist does not cover that area. You might hve to check with BMW about Genthing though.

How i know, cause my car decided to get stuck in 4th gear midway up Cameron.

The only assistance they will give you is phone assist.

So if it realy gets immobilised, it's at your own cost to arrange to tow truck etc back to your home city.

Long Live BMW! NOT.

How many car companies are there that will give roadside assist in Camerons or Genting? Does that mean that practically nobody should drive up those places and should all take a bus instead? :)

going up to genting is definitely not a problem. had lots of fun going up in my 5er.

however i blew a brake line while parking at the top and had to leave the car there overnight....lucky the guys from my workshop were willing to go up and fix the car the next day.

i'm just saying, is it too much to ask for? especially since BMW markets their BMW Assist as part of the reasons to buy a BMW in the 1st place?

Sure, Proton, nor the japanese maufacturers do not cover Cameron and Genting, but compare their cars to the cost of a BMW.

about driving your car to any destination, it is a calculated risk isn't it, but i for one feel very much more confident in reaching my destination when i am in a proton.

Hey Daniel

Long time no see ? Where have you been..always get busy meeting the chicks I guess :) hahahaha now talking about Genting pulak... I am sure your new ride can slot inside the cable car and climb upstairs.... Save fuel and do not "koyak" the engine mah...cheerrrss !!

yo,
Me been the same usual place la, home and office. Nothing new.

My new ride, so it happens could fit between the front doors of my parent's house! So if i wanted to, i could detail/polish/wax etc it in the house!

pujiesss, please don't feel offended. I think what your mechanic is saying is that he does lousy work on your car and has no confidence that it can go up to Genting. Please don't go to roadside shed mechanics - that is if you feel your car is important enough.

I think going up the hill is defintely not the problem. You have to worry about coming down - your brakes have to be in good working condition.

I think this phrase "car can't go up to Gentings" is ridiculous as I personally have not experienced or seen any car not being able to make it up to Gentings unless it is in a ranshackle condition.

hai...my story is like this...
I nvr drive my 318i up to Genting but last 3 weeks I huv to go for outstation with my colleuge then left my 318i home. At particular date my wife have a course at Awana then she drove my 318i with my children up there.... I said u better careful if the road is wet. She call me in the evening saying she already at Arena of Stars. Luckily she come back safely and then I brought the car to chg the engine oil & filter. My mechanic spot the belts already huv cracked. (Change them) very lucky.. if not dunno whut happen at the top of Genting.....

So guys..what is the final conclusion here ? Can anyone wrap up and summarize it and put on my table by tomorrow morning :)

Hmmmm final decision....
Best Put by Ah Lian

Apart from that any car can make it up Genting. Up to driver and road conditions to make it down. (With or Without w/pretty young wife).
