Let's all try to get along now, shall we?

Coming back to the original thread, I had no problems going up in my e30 several years ago with a slightly leaky radiator, screwed up air flow meter, leaky sump and busted power steering.

Now on the way down, THAT was a different story...

This guy is always dissing people and using aggressive words...look at his previous posts. And now using F word and insulting Malaysians in this open internet forum. If he wants to get outta ere, why stop him?

Ur huh? Why? Don't see why there is a problem of driving a 3-silli up and down Genting. On the contrary, I would luv to power drift round the bends. Different feeling than driving a FWD and left-foot braking/pulling hand brakes at the corners.

One must drive within his own limits and not do anything silly. Of course knowing how to get oneself out of unwarranted situations is an added advantage. But when the road is wet, be extremely careful. The road will get very slippery. Was caught out once....

 wah...!!!
I din know you can do power drift.
I never ale to drift up there la.:thefinger:

Well, for one, I used to work up on the hill and commute up and down daily (sometimes even twice a day) between GH and Awana and/or KL. So you can say I know the roads very well, every dips, bumps, corners and what not. Never been overtaken by any GH taxis.:thefinger: :thefinger: Then I was using a lowly Wira 1.6XLi... , auto some more. Of course I was more gung ho going uphill then downhill. A few close calls and one 360 degree spin drove some sense into me and I left GH before I kill myself.:smokin: No wonder none of my colleagues wanted to sit in my car when we went down to Ulu Yam for seafood.

Tried my ex-E36 325i once (before I sold it and regretting it now) and that was a relevation... twitch the steering, whack the power, counter steer and woooooooo. Easier with half worn tyres and when road is wet. Not so fun with SLOTH now...:20: no power and got ESC, ASC, DSC, etc built-in too (my wifey).

I had understeer at 80km/h with my 225/16 with my e23 at 1 sharp corner after a police post. Since then changed to 235/18 but haven't tried the corner again yet ;) What are you guys average speed going up Genting?

i dont think there shud be any problem... I guess i was so influnced by the initial d movie which then leads me to go for every week weekend drive to any hill/mountain climbing road! but of course, like flash said, drive within ur limit. dont try to be hero....

To answer pujiess....

BMW's has no problem with climbing up genting, cameron or bukit tinggi. I have six adults before in my e34 and still managed to overtake some taxis on the way up. On the way down, the brakes are excellent to say the least. Everytime I drive up and down from genting, the car never fails to bring a smile to my face.

If your car has overheating problems, then something is wrong with the car prior going up to genting, be it a fan clutch or electric fan.

Cheers.

should be ok, you see lots of luxuries up there sometimes even ferrari...

however, that being said, the last time i drove up there my expansion tank cracked....

Even kancils can climb genting, what more a UDM? Definitely no issue is you treat it like any other car. But if you try and be a little too funny (i.e. hot rod driving), then yes, you might not be able to climb as you would probably take a tow truck down.

For the record, I have gone up a few times already in my 325. No issues. More fun actually than my Accord

Bimmers are tested along the "alps" under duress and alternate weather conditions - snow, ice, rain, sleet, heat

So the question of UDMS having problems climbing "genting" is pretty much a daft one.

my E32 1600 kg climb without drama .......... it's not rocket science !!

sure or not, I tot the high altitude and often dampness makes the BMW ICU short out......

HE HE HE - joking only-lar cos more often than not its the owner who got short out from over driving he he he.....

Hmmm, I was thinking about it and thought maybe he was talking about another issue :p
Maybe after you climb all the way up to genting then you go play play for a while.. have to sell car because no fuel or cash and have to get bus on the way down lah ;)
Maybe thats why he meant, not advisable to take UDM up Genting....

People should put more thought before posting a thread or a reply.

Please do not ask
"Not advisable to go Genting with UDM. Is that true?

Make it the 3-series UDM, not X-series"

Next time, please provide a more descriptive question or answer.
What response are you expecting from the crowd?

Are you referring to mechanical issues?
The car's dynamics?

I'm sure all of us here has a certain level of intelligence to know if a BMW could make it up to genting? how is a BMW different from other cars? Your mechanic who said that should stop being a mechanic.

Do you know that there are more mountains and hills in the european countries?

A note to everyone, please think before posting anything. Try not to post just about anything that comes to your mind.

Tom
