From thestar today..Thursday May 26, 2011Fuel prices to remain for nowPUTRAJAYA: Malaysians need not worry about any new increase in the price of RON95 petrol, diesel and liquefied petroleum gas as the Government has announced that it is keeping the current rate for the time being.Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision was made with the people's interest in mind.He also stressed that the Cabinet's move had nothing to do with talk about a pending general election.In other developments:> Economists called for a minimum wage council to protect public interest;> Barisan Nasional Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin described it as a people-centric decision; and> Consumer groups cautioned that government subsidies would eventually have to be phased out gradually.
