Hello fellow beemers,After much searching and phone calls, dealer visits, private sellers I think I have to settle for this one.Black 523i 2006 1 owner magnesium engine. Mileage was 88k Km. Found at a dealer in Kajang. The interior is grey even though I prefer black but none came through with the spec I want i.e local. There was one at Jalan Kuching with black interior but that arrogant dealer wanted RM175k for it take it or leave it. FeckNo awaiting for loan. The only problem I found with the car is the button switch for the seat recline. It is missing.Other minor things are missing carpets, broken spring for the ashtray cigar lighter. Minor ones and the dealer promised to fix it. If not, he will refund my booking fee and no deal.Let's see after my loan is approved and hope he lives up to his promise. Oh btw the price was 165k OTR.Cheers.

Congrats on your e60. Mileage of 88k km a bit on the suspect side for a 6 years car. FIY, local AB e60 523i LCI (date of manufacture 2008) is going for RM200k very good condition. Mileage about 76k km.

The car is 5.5 years old. But yes U suspect the mileage could be tampered.Mayb I should call AB for the last service history.

Does anyone have a number for me to check?

Thanks.

You can only check if the car is a local model from AB. If it's an AP car, there's no way to check. The wonderful thing is, mileage can easily be tampered and most car dealers do it especially the AP holders.

Well, if you are a VVVIP, then AB will perhaps entertain you with phone call enquiry on mileage check or service records. If not, then better drive to AB yourself.

Just checked! well I am in for a shock! The mileage was 136k back in Nov 2009 when the car last went to service. Obviously the dealer had tampered the mileage.

But the dealer claimed the owner had less than 88k when he last sent the car for service (not at AB).

This is another blunder....but I think I am gonna bite the bullet again. If true the car had done 136k 2 years ago maybe most parts have been replaced.

If not I have to keep searching...

Walk away, brader. This is the best advice we would give you. The price of RM 165k also not that competitive for a 2006 e60 523i.

To be honest bro, how many people will buy BMW and park at home? :) mileage for 5-6 year old car definitely would be quite a bit but in my opinion it's not really an issue if the car is properly maintained. If Proton engine also can last 200K KM, the BMW would surely be better. My AP car says 21K when I took it but I'm very sure it hits 100K KM in real life.

Absolutely! Not cheap for a 523i of that age.

Here we go again. Appreciate all your advice here bros...

This is the 2nd blunder I've had with my search. The previous one was with the E39 with an engine number issue.

Walk away I guess but can I get back my booking fees? I paid RM600 booking fee :stupid:

You ask back from the dealer for your RM600 and tell them they are not honest with the mileage. If they refuse, you report them in the consumer tribunal and accuse them for trying to cheat you.

But he convinced me twice that the owner said to the best of his knowledge the car did less than 100k KMS.I am now confused.
The car is actually ok.It has been resprayed and valeted. All in good nick.

Infact I have seen a year 2005 with 1st owner doing less than 100k KMS and he had all the AB service + specialist workshop receipts to prove that the mileage was indeed tally.

Well, from the pixs the car does look pretty nice with a new coat of paint & valeted. Can't blame you for love at first sight. Anyway from what you have written above, I guess you are fully satisfied with the car other than the mileage issue. Since you have paid the deposit and may be quite a hassle getting a refund, may as well proceed with the deal now.

Buying of any used cars whether it is in excellent or satisfactory or marginal conditions, you still need to put aside at least RM10k for replacement of worn-out/degraded components. With lots of TLC & $$$ for your beemer, I am sure you will bring it back to its prestine condition.

That's what I am thinking of. Either I forgo the RM600 deposit or face the hassle of getting it back and still have to keep looking for another E60 523i..which is quite a daunting experience I may say:ahhhhh:

Or proceed with the purchase and hope everything turns out to be ok. Mileage of course could be an issue if the car tends to be at the end of its life..but I think this BMW still have more to its life.It is just that you feel that you are paying more than you should.

Other than that, the car is fine. It hides its mileage quite well though

During test drive,I could not find any fault with it. The engine sound was quiet and it ran ok.

Look at.the jpj log card. I've been told.that if there is an accident claim. It will be stamped. It's located somewhere between the ownership field and the roadtax field. Then put a condition to allow you to bring the car to some independent BMW workshop to do diagnostic and also the physical condition of the car. If the sales man agrees, good. Once report shows car is really in good condition, at least it will.save you the headache. Good luck.

Not necessarily. My prev car was rear ended and I needed a Puspakom B2 to get it endorsed which is my insurer's requirement.
When I checked at JPJ a year later, there was nothing updated on the system that the car had been in an accident.

Infact I have also did a JPJ check on this car which also showed nothing in the between the ownershio and roadtax field.

About bringing the car to an independent BMW specialist, that is good idea. Can anyone recommend a good place for an E60?

Cheers

Try obermier at.jalan ipoh. Meet Freddie first. Tell him u want to buy a car and require his expertise to validate the car's condition. Ask him how much he charges. Make and appointment and send the car for inspection.
