I notice that my 1-month old F30 seems to have a wind noise issue at a certain level of speed , which i dont xpect that kinda loud irritating sound for a beemer. I checked with AB mechanic abt it and he told me that it is due to the body cutting shape that causes the noise. I didnt really buy into that though. The only thing that he can do is to tighthen up a bit on the front door but that wouldnt solve much. Just need to wait for the 1st service and hope the wind noise will be gone. Anybody facing the same issue and has any solution, do let me know. Tq2.

wind and road noise is because of 'bodyshape', and noisy petrol engine because it is 'turbocharged'.. now who exactly in BMW is stupid enough to think we buyers would fall for those standard responses?? SA's at AB as well as Ingress gave me those excuses, so I am blaming some marketing idiot at BMW for intentionally being dishonest to customers about their products.

amadt35, i agree with your issues about noise. all the F30's i've driven produced unacceptable levels of road and wind noise at 100kmh. just try any new audi or toyota for comparison.

Agreed. Just wondering if it is an issue with the rubber seals in the door etc.

I will add that with the music on, the noise is not noticeable. Its only noticeable when all other sounds have been switched of.

BMW e36 and BMW e46 has same problem. I never drive e90 before. Do know e90 will have the same problem or not. If e90 has same problem then meaning 3 series is designed like this. heheheheheh

Especially loud when there are cross winds. I could be deaf in the left ear, but it appears quieter on the passenger side (someone else driving)

I finally heard the wind noise that you folks have been talking about. However, I was only able to produce it at the 190-220 km/h range. I turned on the music at that point and it was able to mask the sound.

The E90 seem to be mrginally quieter at 120kmh than the f30. In my case its the road roar coming via the tyres that is the noticable part for the f30, not so much wind rustle. its not so bad. I havnt gone up to as high as 170 though...might be differnt up there. More time needed to get to know this car :)

the f30 has wind noise at around 100 to 110km/h depending on the draft on the road.

rather disappointed with BMW in this area.

You will notice the F30 front and rear windscreen has no rubber trim.. can that be the cause? especially the front windshield, which is very sensitive to oncoming air of a moving vehicle.

Mine was whistling above 80kmh. The service center applied sealant behind the little bit of rubber behind the top part of the windscreen rubber. It seems like the rubber was lifting of and caused the whistling. BMW going cheap cheap, little bit of rubber also save.

correction. BMW MALAYSIA is going cheap cheap.

i mean if you want to save money on CKD models, you'd have to pay for sub-quality products.

that said, i love my BMW. but my other car is much much more quieter on the highway.

hi Willy5,
is your f30 got much quieter after the fix? i got some wind noise too, and i am thinking to complain as well.

mine was to fix whistling, it worked. where is your noise coming from? the windscreen or wing mirrors? if windscreen it may help. take the car in anyway and see what they say.

Ok ... spoke with a SC. Wind noise they say is prob due to THINNER glass. They say its thinner than e90 etc. Save weight for bigger car.
