Ok quick one...can any gentlemen can advise me which bank actually can waive for the RM50 government tax for credit card?? I always heard my friend said can one can one...but when i applied for citibank Platinum Reward card..they seems like didnt mention about this..i also forgot to ask -_-"

First post and you're asking about credit cards, this is a car forum bro, at least do some introductions first in the newbie section as per forum rules.

If you intend to ask random questions like that, maybe lowyat.com is the correct place not here.

Anyway if you are genuine fan of the BMW marque, welcome to the forums.

I read that BNM has decreed that the Govt tax can't be waived when it was introduced, annual fees waiver for the card is the bank's discretion. I have used the reward points to offset the RM50 govt tax though. Am using Citibank cards too..

Have been on Citibank cards (Visa & Master) for the past 13 years. never paid annual fees. They don't waive automatically but when I see they charge the annal fees in my e-statement, I just write in to request for waiver... My payment has always been prompt and no easy payment installments, so they have no reasons to not grant me annual fees waiver.

Bank will use term of "rebate", not waive..In other word, bank will give back the RM50 to u in the other way round.

With the competitive credit card market, all the banks are seeking out new ways to entice new customers, without breaking the laws... But bear in mind, service and reliability is more important. Most cards have no issues locally but some have issues overseas. U don't want to get stuck overseas and have issues making payment with the cards.

oh really? thanks for your info

I think you guys have to do more research ...not only seek advise via forum.Although practically bank cannot waive this RM50 tax but they can offer you something to "rebate it" ie: Citibank Platinum Reward Card, you are entitled 20k free welcome point and you can use it to pay for this RM50 tax. You just look at this chart:
