we used to have a members discount for Ecotint. Is that still available? If it isn't, could someone let me know a good place to install the tint? B)

Did my previous car at SJ (recommended) but i doubt if they have the same film line as they did a few years ago.

Yeah,I just replaced my front screen and paid RM450 to put back the film - Ecotint Ray Barrier.I found that the heat prevention is noticebaly not as good as the old original (which was Ecotint). But it may be due to the glass i.e. the old windscreen repels heat more than the new one so collectively I feel the difference.Visibly, they look alike. I didnt get a discount.

Sorry,I did it in USJ. The front screen took less than 1 hr.Weeddays no appointment required. Weekends, call for appointement. My wife got hot under the collar when they started poring all over the car to fill out the froms on car condition (ISO 9000 Cert requierements meh).

Also did it in SJ... but that was about 2 years ago. Before the forums and club started... ;) I'm more curious if Ops Gelap is back in action. Thinking of another layer actually...

Won't putting another layer on the windows make it tighter, thereby putting more strain on the winder motor?I know for the 1998 Merc E class, the tolerance is so fine that the tint got scratched. Owner had to replace the weather stripping with a thinner one (It seems MB was aware of the design flaw).Dunno about the newer Bimmers tho.

I am thinking of getting the v-kool gold dust for my car ..Was quoted 700 for whole car ... offer ..( by a friend) Is it reasonable >?>>>>????cheers :D

Very reasonable if it covers the front and rear windscreen and windows.I believe the traditional vKool still being charged at RM1600 -RM1800 for a saloon car.Huper-Optik is an alternative. Slightly cheaper at between RM1300 and RM1500, I think.

Well the "Ops Gelap" dust had settled and I think JPJ had come out with clear guidelines. You are allowed 50% light penetration in the front windscreen and 75% in the back (or something like that). In layman terms, I think this 50% and 75% will give you a pretty dark shade already. Those established tinting shops (EcoTint, V-Kool and the likes) would be able to advise on the maximum allowable tint.
