So far, I've seen three E92 M3's in KL - reg.numbers WQM 33, BJF 11 and WRH 661. I'm sure there are more registered units in the country by now.

What is this ///M trackday you speak of? Sounds interesting.

This is the event organised by BMW Malaysia at Sepang for the M cars owners.

went to 'm' trackday.. 2 m3s on track, blue and red.. and one silver SEDAN with DCT!!

nice cars! :top: though a little too 'grown-up', both in styling and size.. got potential though.. v8 roar with the stock exhaust is a little muted but noticeable.. climbing into my csl and the z M coupe back to back, the s54 inline six still produces comparable 'grunt' and urgency..

to understand how much nicer the v8 compared to the previous inline 6, just see it as a 4cylinders vs 6cylinders.. the latter wud be more refined, smoother and less stressed.. however, i still think the engine capacity is a bit small for a v8 which makes it feel less industrious, and more mechanical.. :(

IMO, it shud at least carry 4.5ltr or the best, 5 ltr as what was put in the glorious e39 m5!! nevertheless, super cars.. i wud want one too.. :D

I see, friend, I think the blue BMW M3 with num plate WQU8 or WRF 3, right:rock:~??? have you test drive the BMWM3 sedan, how was the M-DCT perform:listen:~???

saw new m3 sedan on trailer today stop by at dengkil r&r.looks like they import the car using aeroplane!

the DCT is as good as the DSG in golf GTI.. we all know that twin clutch gb is the most superior gb tech in roadcars to date..! :top: without getting to drive the DCT, the only difference that i notice in the taxi ride is the artificial 'jerk/surge' they try to incorporate onto every shifts, just like the 'sensation' u get any traditional manual gb.

this was purposely done since not every driver out there understand the true concept of sequential gears, which is to get BETTER TIMING around a track, more than giving u the feel, the heel-toe exercise, the rev-matching, the blipping, the 'control', and the smile on your face when u get theat PERFECT execution of shifts.. thats why some cars, come with sequential gears exclusively.. enzo, superleggera, scuderia, stradale, clk dtm, m3 gtr and the lowly csl.. heheh.. on a daily drive, sequential gb offers the ease of an auto, but the efficiency of a manual, and that aspiring racer feel.. heheh.. :burnout:

apparently, they tune the software to 'over-rev' the next gear before engaging it, and once it engages, u'll get that sudden 'surge' feeling.. just like dumping the clutch.. why? because they were concerned with the lack of 'feel' between shifts..

they were right, without that, coupled with the NA characteristics, even with double VANOS, the car wud feel too linear ie too M5, too smooth, too boring.. hehe..

I wouldn't call it artificial as what you experienced during the ride is partly due to the high speed shifting at high rpm (and the wheel spin too :) ). With VW's DSG, the shifting is slower and hence the smoothness. You could set the DCT to shift slower and it will be like the DSG (The DCT on that 4 door M3 was set to S-6).

Even though VW came out with the dual clutch concept, the new DCT in the M3 shifts up/down faster and it is the first 7 speeder Dual Clutch tranny in the world. :top:

Cheers

I see, friend, which model you look buy in near future, BMW M3 coupe or M3 sedan:rock:~???

emm, that's what the german engineer explained to us during the e90/92 m3 technical briefing.. i did ask that particular question in relation to dsg, and whether bmw did anything to solve the 'uninspired' feeling of the dsg..

also, if i'm not mistaken, veyron came with 7-speed twin clutch too..

cheers

p/s: saw u on the way in.. looked for u but cudnt find u anywhere.. :D
