Hi all forumers, Given a choice between 2008 e92 M3 manual/stick gear and 2009 e92 335i DCT which one will you take? Lets put aside the price and 2nd hand value. TIA for the opinion. -zul-

of coz the word M3... kills us, but i remember reading somewhere that the 335 is tiny bit quicker than this m3... or zul will not even bother opening this thread... so it would be good to check it out...

cheers, and again M3 comes to my mind..hehe

Depends i suppose. If you intend to modify the car, i would go the 335i although i dont know how much power the DCT gearbox is good for but if i remember correctly, the SMG II's in the E46 M3's could take 700hp+ with the HPF Turbo kits so if the DCT is an improvement, safe to assume 700hp is still wokay for the gearbox? Just an assumption.

I would go 335i if you intend to mod but having driven the E46 M3 before, i would never trade it for an E46 330i no matter how heavy its modded. The feel of the car, the sound of the engine and just the sense of purpose being in a M3 is very different.

But to each his own. :) If you can afford it, why not one of each and chase horsepower down 2 different routes? NA high revving high compression and one turbo charged monster. :)

2 different cars.. 2 different purposes.. maybe u should consider the DCT m3 instead?

i've ridden the e92 manual m3, a few 335s (modded) and a stock 135.. a chipped twin turbo would smoke any m3, past and present, for sure.. but, they are nowhere near the thrill of an m3, where u'd have to chase the power band...

depends on what u like.. easy, seamless drive, or screaming, high revving car.. personally, i would get the e90 dct m3.. :D

M3 for sure. Its the stuff of collectors and legends. A 335i can be modded to go faster than the E92 M3, but it'll be hard to match the excitement and responsiveness of the M3. Certain things are difficult to achieve such as CF roof, lower center of gravity, trick differential, suspension mods and that lovely roar of the V8.

And if you pick one up, you'll be the first in the club to own an E92 M3, and we'll be busy trying to get you out in our meets for a taxi ride :p.

Go with the DCT M3, a few grands more than the stick and worth it since you're already spending that much. Better resale value as well I am sure.

Thanks for all the input.

Actually I booked the e92 335i DCT 2009 few months back. Just got the info the car have arrived to Port Klang. Lately changed my mind to get the e92 M3 Coupe DCT but the local dealer told me that they cannot cancel the booking for the 335i unless I got a buyer for it. Then I was offered the e92 M3 Manual 2008 model with some discount by BMW with the provision they will buy back the 335i DCT.

This is now the dilemma. Should I go for the 2008 e92 M3 manual or stick to my order of 2009 335i DCT?

why dont they let you change to M3 DCT? They still get your business anyway! I am sure the 335i DCT will be grabbed once it becomes available in the showroom. Shouldnt be a problem to sell the 335i than M3. Get them to refund your booking fee when the next available buyer takes your 335i, problem solved.

I wish I had your problems LOL. The M3 la. There has been a few cases of E92 335i owners go upgrading to E92 M3, but not the other way around. Is the E92 M3 (stick) they are offering you used or brand new?

Apparently once the local dealer put a booking they will have to take the car. The local dealer is very worried they will get stuck with the 335i. They still have e92 323 in the showroom for the past 8 months, still cannot sale. I even told them to cancel it and keep the deposit but still they refuse.

So, final decision - I'll take the e92 M3 (stick). Test-drove the car, once bitten will last forever... My friend is driving a 2008 e92 335i steptronic, not as fun as the M3. The feeling is totally different. Its brand new, mileage about 15 km when I test-drove it. Told them to lock the car and do not allow anybody to test-drive it.

Thanks for all your opinion.

Warmest regards.

The colour is Jerez black metallic with beige interior/seat. I'll post the pict once the car is delivered in the next few days.

Regards.
