Is it possible to disable this function? I can't figure it out. Thanks!
Don't think you can disable it via the normal functions or controls we have but there is a chance to remove it via coding.

can.. disable your cabin light while opening the door. do it by pressing and hold the main cabin light until it goes off. this will inop your cabin light while opening the door, and you door handle light will also not illuminate. :) try it out.... :)

I love this light very much....why disable it....?

jwah ... It makes me want to go to a workshop in Puchong to install under carriage lights ala 2Fast 2Furious la. :0)

kong ... TQ, but then does that mean I got no more cabin lights? I go try and see.

Use black adhesive tape to cover the LED bulb.. kao tim!

If want more permanent, use black paint to paint on the LED.

Astroboy ... you want nicer sounding exhaust note? Come la ... bring to me, I got screwdrivers :)

No thank you. My exhaust note sounded just fine.. the BMW acoustic engineers spent hundreds of man hour perfecting the note and I'm liking my package just fine.

Ask your workshop who has GT1 scanner to disable this function.

Did some Googling for u last nite.. it's called "Door Handle Illumination" and it should be able to disabled. Some managed to even extend the illumination duration. If that can be done, set the duration parameter to ZERO, then it will never lit at all, assuming there's no disabling feature.

There's many write up online to meddle with our On-Board computer coding, to learn more, search for "BMW Coding". I have not use a GT1 scanner before but it should do the magic.

Lucky you do not have the scanner, if not the lights will flash to the beat of your music!

...with change of color like many signboards/billboards nowadays...

Its kind of cool when u press the remote and the LED lite up. Not all cars hv that. It helps u to find the handle in dark place or scared people nearby your car hahahaha

I used to think so until one day I parked at a very dark place and the basement lights were out. I accidentally dropped my key after unlocking the doors. Lucky the door lights were there to help me find it :)
