I was offered a 2007 e60 M-Sports for RM275,000 and was wandering whether it is a good buy for that price. It seems kind of strange that when I checked the quotes in the newspaper, the 2006 model goes for about RM230,000 - RM240,000. Why is there such a wide price difference in just one year?

there no fix price for recon car. it depend on what acc that car have, but the main thing is, it up to the seller... try to find another dealer for a good price.
just my 5 cents

Bro you can use AB as a bench mark.... +12 months warranty on it... I just got mine.. decided to get from AB cause after 3 months of looking I got lazy.. hehe... Also if you're getting recon, you may check the actual mileage (alot modified mileage meter) through the key that comes with the car... However, you have to find someone with the system to check the key for you la...Goodluck in your search....

If you want I can introduced to the salesman at Pantai Bharu...the salesman is good and delivered what he promised to me.
1) Did all touch-up inside & out
2) After 1 week used the car, tayar alignment was out and makan sebelah, somemore old recond tyre although still 80% thread. He changed both rear tires FOC (RM3100)
3) After 2 week used the car, felt that gearbox not smooth and he changed the oil and refresh the g/box FOC! (RM1500)
4) Scuff plate, one side chrome delaminated...he changed both new plates
etc.
1 year warranty for engine & gearbox. But need to be patient a bit laa...
You can deal directly with him, me no komisen...

Yes the price difference is that much... depreciation is high from year to year!
Just remember price is not an issue (well, maybe it is) since you are buying a BMW... have to consider the maintenance that comes along with it!
Personally, it took me at least 2 months in searching before I finally found my ideal E60! It's not the cheapest of all... if I'm not mistaken, I bought at RM8-10k higher compared to the market price. But then, the car has never failed on me :top: just ask the car to be sent to the BMW specialists for checking! You don't wanna get a lemon :D

pricing different so much might be non m-sport...it's the hi-line...be carefull when choosing m-sport..lots of differences...

Buy pre-registered or used car from authorised dealer like AB, IA, QA, etc better lah bro. They give 1-year warranty and supposed to have conducted 72-point check. I got mine from AB recently. Very well maintained car - still got new smell. Hopefully all will be ok. Very hard to tell lah especially from AB.
For 6 years I have been maintaining my E46 withn them and had my fair share of fights and problems. Now I maintain outside not because their service is bad but cost too high and waiting time too long.

end 2007 specs fitted with latest LCI (new gear); hence, more expensive. ask your dealer. imo, for that price, it is worth taking a drive BMW dealers for used specs...would certainly cost you slightly more. Good luck!

Actually when I look at the car, most of the 2007 cars are still with the older gears (non-LCI)? :39:

Bro, sound like u soon to leave our e39 group.

I reckon bmw_lover mentioned about this:

I still love my E39 performance, handling & feeling which I believe only ///M car can
outshine. Maybe should buy ///M3 but worry cant afford the maintenance. I spent too much & only left RM18k settlement. Since my E46 328 goin off soon I'm in dilemma again what car to buy at my affordable means. After mendling with 3 BMW models my saving is at alarming stage which is good to new owner lar.
As I'm not getting any younger have to really plan my financial with new house comin as well. Sometime we hv to prepare for future uncertainty.:listen:

About a year ago, a fully loaded 2007 E60 M-Sport was offered at RM270k to me. That was first price offer, no haggling, and interest rate at 2.2%.

Nowadays interest are at 4.35% if I'm not mistaken, so it actually boils down to our cashflow. Market price are difficult to get because it all comes down to the accessories - sunroof, LCI, performance parts, trims, leather, iDrive, navigation, TV/DVD, etc.

But all in all, buying a BMW is never ever related to sound financial planning, and never about preparing about future uncertainties.

It's the vrrooomm vroooommm factor.

Of course lar bro if ur earning 5 digits income. Lots of factor need to take into accounts for ordinary guy like me. Of course Vrooom factor is one of the reason we choose BMW:cool:
