I noticed there is a bluetooth setting on idrive but it can't seems to be selectable. I wanted to test pairing with my phone but it said the bluetooth is disabled so I went to setting and tried to enable it but it won't. Any suggestions?

You probably don't have the bluetooth module installed. The appearance on the menu just indicates it is bluetooth ready. You still need to have the module installed. I have some thing with mine as well.

From what I gather from other forums, if you can see the option then your car is fitted with bluetooth module with bmw assist option. It just that in some cases the bluetooth was never activated by the dealer.

Anyone else also have bluetooth option but can't select it?

ehh...how come mine doesn't come with bluetooth? mine is japan spec msport 2007?

there is two possibility...

1. since the TCU module is optional, your car might not be spec'ed with it...but since your car is local AB right? then 2nd scenario applied.
2. the TCU module in MY2006 e60 is know to be problematic after 2-years which I had experience before...it is highly probable that the TCU module in your car was removed and the MOST interface terminated. Since the iDrive is coded with the TCU module in place the removal of the module does not remove the option from the iDrive so you can still see the option.

TCU is the module for the telecommunication unit based on Bluetooth and docking connection...

to confirm this, open the left hand side of your boot cover and check if the module, a steel box with length about 30cm is there or not...if yes check the connection...if all is there then the unit could have failed completely...

Oh gosh, even a bluetooth module could fail? This thing is supposed to be reliable :( How much does it cost roughly to repair?

huh? by who?

Also, about this: "open the left hand side of your boot cover and check if the module"
Can you explain? terms rookie here. Did not understand this.

ekekek....I am still discovering my car like you. I only realized i had an extra AC/DC charger thinghi in my boot after 6 months of ownership! ekekeke...BUT you should be able to spot a well covered pull down cover compartment on the left side of your boot when you open it right? When you open it don't get excited thinking you have a hidden DVD player. It's actually the GPS unit thinghy that we cannot use in Malaysia.... :) My guess is that the box t2ribena is talking about is over there....

Mine is also Jap-spec. I got the extra Bluetooth function when I changed my CCC. Freddie said that all it means is I can have Bluetooth later if I want to, just have to get the module. Otherwise it just means it is "Bluetooth ready".

Bro, I still can't find the "boot cover". Is there a picture?
Is it the one with spare tyre inside?

Dont be surprise, mine failed and i have to change the whole 'motherboard' which caused me RM3100.

Later found out i could just unplug the bluetooth module to continue using the idrive. (was going haywire, to know more check out my thread)

Bro, what u can do is once u open the boot, u just need to slightly pull out the left side of cover and look into it, there will be a small steelbox sitting there.

Bro alxy, how much does freddy charge you to change CCC?

I originally changed entire CCC + DVD player, etc... from Freddie in 2008. Then entire package cost me around RM10K+. Early this year, that CCC kaput. Freddie quoted me new one around RM4K+, but he managed to find a used one (from one of his customer) for RM2.5K.

Actually now I suspect my old CCC still OK. Problem then was faulty IBS and alternator (diagnosed later, after I found replaced CCC still not working well). So probably not enough current going into CCC. Anyway, what's done is done. Maybe if current CCC kaput then I'll try and see if old CCC works :)

Meaning a used unit now is selling around RM2.5k?

Oh, yours is already with CCC then.
I'm thinking to change my M-ASK to CCC. Wonder how much would that takes.

Btw guys, mine has AUX-in and it comes with a 3.5mm jack. Does it mean if I plug my iPhone using a big > small jack converter I can output music to the car's audio?

Well, this was direct sell from Freddie's customer to me, i.e. willing buyer willing seller. I have no idea whether price was raesonable or not. But the unit was just 1 year old, and noting that new one costs 4K+, i would say 2.5K is an OK price. Whether you can find one is another question. :) I was lucky, I had already waited about 2 months for Freddie to fix up the old CCC when I just happened to visit him and he said his customer wanted to sell his CCC. Right place right time.
