Hi folks, I am planning to swap my E46ci with an E46 M3 CSL/GTR? styled rear bonnet/boot lid. Please refer to attached pic. There are some shops in the Sunway area that offers this conversion and I am planning to visit them in the coming weeks. Are there any other shops/locations that I should check out other than in Sunway? At the moment, I have identified two shops i.e. Motosport and Redzone. I would very much appreciate your views and/or personal experiences (if any):
  • in doing such conversion work - what to look out for etc. etc. :listen:
  • in dealing with the shops I mentioned above or any other that you may or may not recommend
Thank you for your views, recommendations, tips etc. BlackCat

CSL rear trunk lid & M3 front hood

That's a CSL trunk. Are you planning to get the add-on or the entire trunk itself?

Hey there bro...

I plan to get the whole bonnet itself. Not a cf one cos I plan to get it painted, a crp would do the trick I guess... Any suggestions? Looking for an M3 front hood too if budget allows hehehe

BTW, am still using the grille you sold to me. Planning to modify my old grille by having it painted black.

The CSL trunk is fantastic mod for an e46 coupe. Just make sure that they do the inner lining properly ie the "carpet" part thats "inside" your original boot.

Also, make sure the material used for manufacturing the boot is sturdy. It seems (not too certain though) that if its made of fibre glass, it may crack/wharp etc under prolonged hot sun exposure eg.parked in an open air car park 5 days a week etc.

Good luck mate!

Hi bro,

Thanks for your tips.

I will be swapping the inner carpets from my ori trunk... so that should not be an issue... I hope.

As for the material used, I may get the one made of frp (cost about RM1.9k from motorsport division @ sunway). Any issues with this materials? There are bound to be someone in this forum that have gone thru this route... any experiences, please share with me :listen: . Thanks.

Hi adliz,

Thanks for the tip. Yes, I am not getting the fg. Am planning for the frp but have a few Qs. I was told that the CFs and FRPs were fully imported from the US??? HUH  :thefinger: .

I strongly believe these hoods and bonnets were manufactured locally... correct me if I am mistaken but if these were to be imported, the $$$ would not be as advertised!!! The quality is also questionable. I saw a CSL boot lid done in CF, and from the inside, I could see that the thickness was not consistant as in some parts, it was opaque enough to have the sunlight coming thru!!! :14: :reddy:  :31: :puke:

Are these people trying to pass off goods by misrepresentation???!!! Sigh...
