arghh getting tired of my manual already ...indeed it's just waste of $$$ doing the conversions etc etc ...

but is still an 328 auto ...can cruise and same time trash the car too

time to handover the keys to me... BLUEBOX + Throwing Stars =

hahahaha..

imho it depends on what sort of driving the car will be subjected to most of the time..if it's a daily driver in kl traffic, then u need to work out your left leg (n reduce activities that can longgarkan kepala lutut hehehe) to prepare from the constant clutch abuse (altho on my previous 330ci, the clutch is not that stiff)..the feeling gets more challenged especially traffic jams at long slopes..

if most of the time you're doing long distance travelling or night time town drives, then a manual would be ideal for the occasional rempit sessions :top:

regardless, i miss my e46 and at times wished my e92 is a manual..the control, the torque, the grip on the road, the confidence in rempits n taking corners, all is different in manual..probably thinking of doing the manual conversion on my e92 down the road..bro aidil, any possibility to do auto to manual tranny swap for my car ke? hehe

my suggestion, try get an ori manual car..but for e46, conversions are also ok as i heard lots of reliable converteds out there and gives a problem-free happy daily driving experience!

u got the point. most of the time i work at kl city area. (need to train my legs)
or maybe i should drive auto until transmission KO, then only decide the rest...

Bro SilverBullet, never done any research on E90/92 system, but worse case is swap DME with manual after the mechanical work. E46 can be coded with relative ease

^ Strongly agree with the Kucing... As much fun you want a manual for fun driving, without an auto car as spare, you will cry in traffic and start to hate the manual :D

Actually it should read as 3-1 :4:

Manual wins

Having said that the 8 speed gearbox from ZF is a technological masterpiece .... the new benchmark.

Here we go again, the auto vs manual thingamajig...

There is no such things in life that would be the best of both worlds...

Even the two sides of a coin is different in which the respective side warrants a different purpose - but its still a coin valued from either sides.

A car is a tool and a tool is designed with purpose in mind. How one uses a tool for one's task is a prerogative. Right or wrong, its one's own choice.

Having said the above, what is more important [to me at least] is how one masters the employment of a tool. Would you use a hammer to drive a nail on a glass sheet to a wall, or a mallet instead? Or even better, wouldn't you use a screw with a corresponding screwdriver...

Which brings to mind...

If you had the chance of being with Kate Moss for the whole week OR being with her and with Katie Holms for just ONE night... which would you choose? Ask yourself, would you be able to master just one or both?

If you ask me, I'd like my coins heads up... :)

go for manual bro... or manual conversion

yes, everything got pro n cons
but as for me, manual suit me best :D

Well a manual E46 is pretty hard to come by anyway. But a transplant can always be done later on in Penang. The GM/ZF gearbox iin E46 s prone to wear and tear failure and an overhaul doesn't necessarily rectify the issue. But yes generally manual ones is a much safer option - low maintenance plus the fun factor and minimal power loss.

Hello, I'm new here. Which shop in Penang is it? My 318i gearbox broke down once, changed into a second hand one. Am very keen on manual transmission cars. Approximately how much would it cost for the conversion?
