The 2.0 N42 E46 has more toys and newer technologies compared to 1.9 M43TU E46.

So, you can weigh the pros and cons accordingly in terms of price, maintenance and preference.

best of course 2.0 lar, 3.0 lagi best. but get more info about the parts + maintenance price (most important which have lesser problem). but i believe if your heart is to buy a 2.0, even if 2.0 have more problem than 1.9, u will most probably still buy 2.0

hard for me to comment as I drive 1.9, best to check with a few BMW mechanic for their opinion comparing 2.0 & 1.9

Agreed with Mouse,

Lesser problem, minimum maintenance issues but power also kuranglah. If your are looking into performance than go for 2.0, 2.5, 2.8 or 3.0 lah. For me i'm ok with BMW comfort tak kisah lah 1.9 pun:top:

It depends on the condition of the car you are getting, how you drive and how you take care of the car.
Generally, the 2.0 parts may be more expensive than the 1.9 but you are getting much power from the 2.0.
The fuel efficiency of the 2.0 is also better.

Whichever you decide, don't expect it to be a buy and drive kind of thing. It never happens. Stanby some fund for repair and make good.
I did my research a year ago but ended up getting the 325.

tq for ur info....after i read previous thread...driving the bmw is not for power only...to feel the comfort & stability and stylish as well hhehhe....if need power better buy evo right..ahakss...for family and lesser problem i think e46 1.9 suit for me....just for balik kampung's car....at least my family feel comfort and save...:top:

prefacelift dun have it, meaning 1.9. but it can work if you can find a multifunction steering to fit. however, not all the button will work (eg. cruise control)

1.9 is better. I drive a 2.0 but personally...1.9 dah cukup coz maintenance and issues are easier to solve. If want power...go for 2.5. moreoever, 1.9 can be more powerful coz there's supercharger available...2.0...apa pun tak de...
