Hi guys, my pusher fan started getting really wobbly last night. This is the fan at the frontmost of the car, just behind the kidney grilles. I think its for the air conditioning. I can feel the fan hitting the body because when stationary i can feel it through the brake pedal. Sort of a small vibration. It also makes a horrible clacking sound now.I tried touching the fan when stationary and it moves forward and backward about 2cm.They cost about RM1400 (part only) Can these thing be fixed rather than changing it? Perhaps change a bearing or something like that?Or does somebody has one for sale cheap hehe.Part number 64546921395 (3 pin, for double vanos after 1998)

Hi Haywire,

Been there and no point trying to fix the bearing. The cap is machine pressed and won't last. My repair lasted less than a month then changed to a made in Germany Vemo aux fan (3 pin) that lasted 3 month with dealer refusing warranty. End up buying ori Siemens from Singapore.

Brgds and Good Luck.

am having the same problem now ... It's 3 pin and yes ..ouchhhhhh ... another hole in the poket aaaa .. :(

Mine suddenly just went quiet again...no more wobbles so leaving it there for now.

Dangerous as fan brittle blades might just disintergrate at high speed.

The aux fan motor? No no no, i searched long long long time ago when my aux fan kaput. We can not buy only the motor even i checked in oversea forum.

May be u can try your luck?

I've heard about the deleting the aux fan and if not mistaken adding or changing the electric fan to compensate. Is that possible on E39?

The aux fan is already electric. This is the frontmost fan just behind your grills. The conversion you're talking about is the other fan inside.

ah yes...my bad, I thought its the fan directly bolted to the engine...

Anyone knows where I could sourced for 4 cable pusher fan
Motor made by siemens? I have two units which required replacement.

Yes it is. But new batch is using electric motor. Older batch still using clutch fan. My e39 is using clutch fan.

All E39 came with clutch fans until end of production. Those E39s with electric fans have been converted using E46 electric fans.
