Guys,What type of ATF oil do you use? This is for those with single vanos 5HP18 box.I've saw a stockist selling this ZF Lifeguard oil for 5HP18. Question is if previous owner has been using Esso LT can i use this ZF lifeguard now? Are the ZF and esso similar in terms of specs and colour? How many litres is required for a change? 6L or 7L? Thanks peeps.

I got my atf change done today. Bought the above atf for RM 42/btl (6 btls) from Suan Huat PJ.

I bought the original filter below from AB Glenmarie for RM 46.

Apparently there is another type of gasket (green) but they don't have that. It is said to be more expensive cuz of higher quality.

how often do you change your atf fluid?

Well this is my first ATF change since getting the car. The previous owner changed it 60K KM ago. And i'm continuing this tradition.

tats the rite ATF coz ive used them when i changed mine (single vanos also)

thats the correct ATF for 5HP18 gearbox. if you change ATF filter together you need to use up to 8liter. one time changing the ATF oil together with ATF filter easily coz youmore than 1k. thats BMW

Apparently i only use 6L of oil. It was filled up while the car is in D meaning the GB pumps will suck the oil up into the GB. With that it's a complete 6L and while the last bottle was almost empty, the oil overflowed out.

Beg to differ...i got my atf oil change together with filter for < RM 400.

if your mechanic has performed proper flushing and removing the old oil properly, and during flushing you require a lot of bottles of the ATF.
once done, you can use the new oil and no worries

If you bought the gasket from Suan Huat, how come have Bavarian A.P sticker? Bavarian did not give you a price lower than Suan Huat....?

wow...great observation...bought from soon huat but with bavarian auto sticker...

Bro I am using Total long Life fully synthetic since jun last year .smooth

Bro, I used Total Long Life Fully Synthetic on my 2001 e39 520i and after about 2 years the torque converter bush jammed and caused the whole gearbox koyak. From then onwards I use ZF and change ATF, filter and gasket every 25k km.
