Hi Jerman,

Thanks. agreed E39 is a technologically great car.

FYI, will accept delivery of Accord G8 this week. The reason is the concern of the re-sell value of the E39 in the next 2-3 years, knowing that the current E60 model will be due for replacement in 2009/10.

Another reason is to keep me motivated to get the E60 in the future, not getting the E39 will keep my dream alive...

Thanks!

Actually u will lose more when buying new car. I consider my self new to BMW. Owning, driving & loving BMW are totally different thing. Anyway its yr money. Newer BMW is not like older, even production yr is only 5 yrs. Its becoming more like japs:rolleyes:. I wonder how many BMW I can afford in 5 yrs time:smokin:

Hi Jerman,

I'cant agree with you more! Someday I will end up with a BMW.

There is chinese proverbs, "A short rest is make us more prepare for longer and better journey." After serious consideration I can't afford to own a BMW because of other priorities to deal with it first. Buying a car is not just paying the monthly installment and I'm very particular about car and I always want my ride to be tip-top condition.

Thank you.

This is an interesting topic....

I happened to ordered an Accord G8 2.0 2 months back. Immediately after the booking, one of my friends bought an E39 528 year 99 sup up with Sniezer items and lowered, black. I took a spin and I have to say the G8 is no where close.

I struggled for 1 whole week and decided to shop around for e39 before giving up for the Accord. After 1 week of loooking around, I have decided to go with an e39. Got myself a 520 silver year 02 with 75kkm loaded on it. Cost me RM102k for the car. Paid another 3k to fix up some stuff, and 5k to put in some accesories. I have to say NO REGRET! Everytime after driving, park my car and walk away from it, I couldn't resist to look back and tell myself "This is a car!"

No offence to Accord, I am a Honda fan also. But there is 2 different class. If we were to look at depreciation, I bet any new Accord buyer that my cost of ownership at the end of 3 years will be the same if not lesser.

Long Life BMW!

As for me, once I've tasted UDM, nothing will come close to it. JDMs will feel like Plotons to me......haha

dude i drive a 26 year old 635csi and i tell u what this car is more reliable then the R33 GTT i had in Perth. my cousin recently sold his 04 E46 325I for an 08 Civic 2.0 and he regrets selling the udm, he finds his Civic rather boring. Its entirely up to u man, we can only tell u our personal experiences and suggestions.

At the end of the day its about the individual.

Good luck on deciding.

Bro after driving E39 my volvo S40 feels like toy car. Test drove the Accord feel like i was floating on the road.

I used to have City and Civic and now I driving Accord (7th gen). Before I get a chance to test drive the UDM, I thought Honda is the best car in my world. One day, I test drive my uncle's E60. Wowwww...... this is the car I want!!

So now, I'm planning to trade-in my Accord to get an used E60.

bmw rocks, the honda accord is too stupid

bro,
Comparing Honda Accord with BMW in this website will be biased. The answers are rather obvious! Try the same topic in Accord website, you may get different comments!

The E39 could be my last BMW if CHRIS BANGLE is still around. So far I haven't seen any good current BMW line up to replace my ageing E39. It's not an easy decision after driving the "Best Car of The Year" every year. The new accord 3.5L could be a good alternative with technologically advanced V6 engine. Actually, there's nothing to lose. All the Bangle-designed cars are ugly, and so does the Accord.

...this is the dilemma of an E39 fahrer..

I owned a honda accord some time ago ... no doubt it used to be a reliable car yet cheaper for maintanance....

While driving it , i didnt have the idea that e39 is way better , till i own one 523i 3 years back. Its really full of fun and adventure.

Its not just the driving pleasure. Its the big '' FEELING '' u get .:top:

What else i can say ...

dont forget the BIG FEELING of maintenance bills,haha...... not being biased, i will still go for an E39 than a accord...

Just came across this thread. I guess this is an obvious Question a lot of us in our late 30s tend to ask ourselves.

A few of my classmates have "graduated" to Accords and Camrys. Of course thet would love to get a new E60 but being salarymen they are not prepared to fork out RM350K on a car!

On the other hand these are guys would never get a 5-6 year old second hand E39. They wouldnt want the hassle of maintaining a second hand car.

So I guess the greatest inhibitor to most would be "maintenance bills" and the hassle with it.

Therefore it is only enthiusiats like us will put up with all the hassle.

But if you ask me I rather drive my E36 than a brand new Waja and therefore I would get a E39 than a new Accord.

Cheers.
