These "chassis codes" only change to signify a major redesign of a series, or the introduction of a new series. I think why they change to 'F' is because :

1. after letter E is F

2. they dont want to use 3 digit coding, like E 100, E 110 (sound like merc ?)

3. to follow the current BMW formula one engine / body code ?
